Hi, folks. This is actually my first post to this forum. I've been getting back into Fantasy Battles after a years-long hiatus and have gravitated towards Lizardmen. The purpose of this post was to get some feedback about an army list I've been considering (at least 2,500 points) that I've been pondering since acquisition of the army book and the 8th edition rules system. Speaking in generalities (i.e. without considering magic items, spells, etc.), I had considered the following list: Mage-Priest - all four disciplines Saurus warriors - 2 units of 30 models each - full command in each unit - hand weapons and shields Skink skirmishers - 2 units of 12 models each - blowpipes Temple guard - 1 unit of 20 models - embedded Mage-Priest - full command Cold One Cavalry - 2 units of 10 models each - full command in each unit This is in the neighborhood of 2,500 points. Just looking for some feedback before I purchase any actual models. Thanks, iacw
Welcome back, 2x30 Saurus and 20 Temple Guards is a great base for your army. The Skirmishers work well enough in 8th, though I far prefer Chameleon Skinks. Still its probably easier to create Chameleons from regular Skinks so they are also a sure buy. Now the 2x10 Cavalry is something that I would not reccomend, they're just very overpriced at 35 points/model if you ask me. Also they don't bring that much to the army that it can't already do. Salamanders, Terradons, some Saurus Characters and possibly a Stegadon or two would be my recommendations.
Thanks for the advice! Yes, I did notice that the cost for the cavalry models was a bit high, but they're fast, which is what compelled me to include them in the original list. I feel like Kroxigors have the same problem. Either way, the large blocks of Saurus Warriors are a good core. I'll stick with that and keep building.
Agreed. Cold-One used to be my quake 1 nickname playing Dark Elf. For lizardmen, not only are they overprized but they suck with INI 2. And while the dark elf cold ones looks like killing predators, our ones looks more like Flintstones. You can never buy to many salamanders, my tip.
