Hey all, So Ive been playing Dark elves for the past year or two, and have decided that my Lizards need to come out and play. Im mostly just tired of the DE and the lizards were always a bit more my style of play. Anyway, so I could really use some advice on this army list. I didnt want to go the way of lore of Life, although I do know how amazing it is for us, so light is the lore of choice. I also wanted to add some magic protection for my Slann, so with this setup, I should have a 4+ ward against any magic damage for the entire TG unit. Now im not sure if that works against pit of shades so some info on that would be great. Cupped hands is awesome, but I thought I would try something a little new for me and go with the bane head+feedback scroll. Im not sure about the Steg, but personally I love having a steg on the field. Im toying with the idea of replacing it with some CoR instead. The BSB in the smaller saurus unit. Slann Mage-Priest, General, Focus of Mystery, The Focused Rumination, The Becalming Cogitation, Bane Head, Obsidian Amulet, Feedback Scroll, Lore of Light - 470 Pts. Saurus Scar-Veteran, LA, CO, Burning Blade of Chotek, Dawnstone, Charmed Shield, BSB - 185 Pts. 29 Saurus Warriors, M, S, C - 349 Pts. 30 Saurus Warriors, Spears, M, S - 378 Pts. 20 Temple Guards, M, S, C, Gambler's Armour, Lichebone Pennant - 390 Pts. 8 Chameleon Skinks - 96 Pts. 8 Chameleon Skinks - 96 Pts. 8 Chameleon Skinks - 96 Pts. 1 Salamander, 1 Skink Handler - 80 Pts. 1 Salamander, 1 Skink Handler - 80 Pts. Ancient Stegadon - 275 Pts. Total: 2495
I like lore of light too! I think it works great for LM. I just want to point out that you're TG will not be getting a 4+ against magic. Magic Resistance does not stack so you won't be able to add the effects of the Amulet and the Penant. You can however stack ward saves and MR. So if you had an EotG and MR(3) item your TG would have a 2+ ward save against magic (though it is very pricey and not sure if it's possible in the 2500 range). Instead of protecting your TG champ I would give him one of the 5 pt magic weapons to give him magical attacks. I like running stegs too, but as you'll see in the forums the consensus seems to be to run 2 or 3 in a game. A single one will rarely make it to turn three when facing War Machines (I can atest to that). Welcome back to Lustria!
Ok so I made most of the changes you suggested, and have two lists to choose from. Let me know which you think would work better. In the first list, Im not sure about the CoR? I would like another hammer unit, but if you can think of another unit that would work better in this list, or another unit that might fill a gap you see please let me know. Once again, the Scar-Vet is in the smaller saurus warrior unit, not the CoR. The Slann's Obsidian Amulet should give the TG unit a 5+ ward against magic and add to the Slann's ward save if I understand you correctly. Slann Mage-Priest, General, Focus of Mystery, The Focused Rumination, The Becalming Cogitation, Bane Head, Obsidian Amulet, Feedback Scroll, Lore of Light - 470 Pts. Saurus Scar-Veteran, LA, CO, Burning Blade of Chotek, Dawnstone, Charmed Shield, BSB - 185 Pts. 26 Saurus Warriors, M, S, C - 316 Pts. 30 Saurus Warriors, Spears, M, S - 378 Pts. 20 Temple Guards, M, S, C, Gold Sigil Sword, Std. of Discipline - 385 Pts. 6 Chameleon Skinks - 72 Pts. 6 Chameleon Skinks - 72 Pts. 6 Chameleon Skinks - 72 Pts. 10 Cold One Cavalry, M, S, Banner of Eternal Flame - 390 Pts. 1 Salamander, 1 Skink Handler - 80 Pts. 1 Salamander, 1 Skink Handler - 80 Pts. Total: 2500 In the second list I added another Steg, and dropped the chameleons down to 5 models each. Not sure if this is the best choice or not. Let me know which you think would be a stronger list. Slann Mage-Priest, General, Focus of Mystery, The Focused Rumination, The Becalming Cogitation, Bane Head, Obsidian Amulet, Feedback Scroll, Lore of Light - 470 Pts. Saurus Scar-Veteran, LA, CO, Burning Blade of Chotek, Dawnstone, Charmed Shield, BSB - 185 Pts. 26 Saurus Warriors, M, S, C - 316 Pts. 26 Saurus Warriors, Spears, M, S - 330 Pts. 18 Temple Guards, M, S, C, Gold Sigil Sword, Std. of Discipline - 353 Pts. 5 Chameleon Skinks - 60 Pts. 5 Chameleon Skinks - 60 Pts. 5 Chameleon Skinks - 60 Pts. Stegadon - 235 Pts. 1 Salamander, 1 Skink Handler - 80 Pts. 1 Salamander - 75 Pts. Ancient Stegadon - 275 Pts. Total: 2499
I think both lists look pretty good. On the first list I would drop a few CoRs (I take six or five) but you got the right idea with the banner of eternal flame, you'll need that for hydras. On the second list, you will be fine with 3 teams of chamos x5. A point of clarification. The Slann's Ward only applies to him so the unit won't get a 4+ ward. With the Engine of the Gods the ward save is bestowed on all units within 12" so that's why I said that was feasable above. Though a 5+ save against magic is pretty good already imo.
