This morning I thought it would be cool to use the last edition steg for ancient stegs and the new one for regular stegs. This after noon I went down to my local store and found an unopened box of the last steg for $20 (USD)! So I bought it. So total now I have 32x saurus warriors, 24 skinks, an ancient steg which is going to be an EotG (I get a priest separate to mount on it and I'm going to build up a cool magic looking device to be the EotG) So right now I am sitting on 997 points. I still need 8 saurus, 6 skinks, 10 chameleon skinks, 20 temple guard and a slann to fill out my 2000 point list. I'm getting there.
pretty good amount of mini's! But I woud rather use an actual steg even for the ancient one... way better look and size/customization is great. Just my opinion , good luck with your army!
Don't get me wrong I like the new model. However, having the more vintage (not really that old) stegadon will make my army a little bit more different from any other lizardman army likely to show up to tournaments. Also, I don't like the EotG model. When I was reading the story behind them I was thinking of it as more of a giant orb on a column not a round thing so I am going to build one like what I was picturing to add a little more flare.
there was a nice conversion of a setgadon with an EotG in the LM collecteors guide (the one i bought in 2006, dont know if a new one appeared) it looks quite nice and its easy to do, but there are no platform for skinks
I was digging through a bin of old bits and models and I found a bag of the large flier bases and I am thinking about using that as a base of the conversion and making it like a portal when I paint it. I'll mount it vertically at the back of the platform and paint it all dark and thundery.
about 2 years ago i joined a beginner camp for fantasy they gave u: a battalion A hero blister a paint set and 4 weeks of lessons for every part of the hobby and army u chose at this point i already had paints so the store manager gave me the old stegedon model instead (which was the surrent model back then) which turned out to be almost $20 more expensive, oh well. now i use it as a regular steg.
ya im also working on converting him into an EoTG to go along with my plastic one o bought recently dual EoTG FTW. lol
