used this list tonight against an ogre army, it was a massacre and then some lol. First ever game with Lizardmen and I really enjoyed them, JSoD did amazing taking out a butcher, a unit of lead belchers and finally the scrap launcher. Sallies however were the unit of the match taking a unit of bulls right off the table in one round of shooting. Steed of Shadows works great for keeping the Slann safe, was even thinking next time of using bears anger on him for some fun haha. Lemme know what you think. Lord 2nd Gen Slann, Tepok, Dominion, Diadem of Power, Sun Standard, Battle Standard Hero Skink Priest, lvl 2, Cloak of Feathers SSV, Jaguar charm, great weapon, glyph necklace, Sotek, Quetzl, LA, Shield Core 11 Skinks, blow pipes, Scout 11 Skinks, blow pipes, Scout 10 Skinks, Javelins 10 Skinks, Javelins Special 6 Saurus Cavalry, FC, War Banner 20 Saurus Warriors, FC, Quetzl Rare 3 Salamanders I think next time I'll probly just take that banner off the slann but still keep the battle standard on him, I know it will come in handy for break tests as near the end of the game my Sallies almost ran right off the table. I had to feed my Saurus Warriors to the main unit of iron gutts with a tyrant just to keep them from going after other stuff. I am impressed with Calvary so far, though eventually I wanna swap them and the Warriors with Kroxigors when the new models come out. Cheers,
I am about to do my first 2000 pt match either tomarrow or next weekend so I'm glad to here u did so well. I like your Slann set up I'm going to be using a similar one. The Slann has a US of 5 and the SoS and The Bear's Anger can only be used on charecters w/ a US of 1 (I had the same idea once and was corrected). I am curious how well the cloak of feathers worked out for u. how did u use it? An idea u might try if u wanted to take a diffrent standard, take the Huanchi's Blessed Totem. Will give u a free move w/ ur Slann just have to remeber to point him in teh right dirrection and if u have a preist in ur army no worries about Slann LoS so long as ur priest can see well.
Cloak of the feathers i honestly didn't use in this match, i was able to keep him outa LoS the whole game. My bad with SoS...though I really only used it on last turn to get LoS on something else. Luckily enough though I was able to roll Unseen Lurker and my cavalry ripped him apart. One thing I learned in this match is that ogres do not match up well against lizardmen because of skink's poison and their crappy armour save. Im definitely feeling that the lone slann is the way to go...though when i did the match his tyrant unit even on the charge woulda lost combat res against my saurus if my slann was in there.
I just had my first 2000 pt game as well and agree w/ lone Slann. I went up against a VC army and was very happy I didn't waste points on TG.
How did you far against VC? I've had a hard time with them with a couple of my armies, though I know how to beat them with high elves now. I'm gonna be facing them soon with my Lizardmen and just wondering how they stack up. I know sallies have the potential to wreck some of their units.
I did ok, after 5 hours of newbie play and lots of help from expert players we hended in a draw (lost by a 100). I would suggest taking Rod of Sorcery and take Dispel Scrolls or Cube of Darkness. I found having a Skink Priest w/ Mark of the Old Ones and Cube of Darkness is insanely great. He gives ur Slann LoS, adds to ur dispel pool and his spells aren't half bad. The Cube of Darkness if roled right (blessing of the Old Ones) ends the enemies magic phase on top of dispelling a spell and ending all remain in play spells. A VC army has alot of spells that are easy to cast and this helps just take a turn away from them.
About Skink Priest with Cloack of Feathers (how to use him). This tactic requires you to get some hurting magic (Uranos Thunderbolt or the other bolt spell, can't remember it's name). I used this against VC army and we had a draw, even that he always failed (due to superior dispel rolling). Fly 20" away from nearest enemy. Then cast Uranons Thunderbolt (unlimited range). If enemy comes for you, then just fly away, again. PS. Lucky you for winning Ogres.
I think ogres are one of the hardest armies to play, but that aside Lizardmen with their poison attacks match up very well against them. Against a slann ogres really have no chance either lol. When my friend and I arranged this game I told him I was bringing my 2nd gen slann just so he would play his dwarves, I got there and saw the ogres on the table and first thing that came to my head was "hes gonna hate me" lol I'm gonna get a chance to play them this weekend as well. probly against VCs and maybe Daemons, but will probly try my old blood list for fun against the daemons. Here check it out and tell me what you think. Lord Oldblood, General, LA, Maiming Shield, Balde of Revered, Tepok, Itzl, Quetzl, Carnosaur Hero SSV, GW, LA, Shield, Quetzl, Tepok, Jaguar Charm Skink Priest, lvl 2, Scout, Dispell Scroll X 2 Core Skinks X 10, Scout Blowpipe Skinks X 10, Scout Blowpipe Skinks X 10, Javelins, Shield Skinks X 10, Javelins, Shield Special Saurus Warriors X 15, FC, Tepok Saurus Warriors X 15, FC, Tepok Saurus Cavalry X 6, FC Rare Salamanders X 3 Total = 1996 7 total dispel dice
