So, my High Elves friend has been whining and moaning about my slann, and I in turn about teclis. Although everybody agrees teclis is stupidly over powered and that cupped hands is too :p

So here's a list I made with the terms we agreed on, 2 disciplines max, no cupped hands. For him, no teclis or book of hoeth, I will be telling him no banner of the world dragon, otherwise I'm taking 3 disciplines!

Ha! Well, heres the list, I'm taking the Cavalry to hunt his wizard bunker, Scar vet in with them to help take down the bunker and the skink chief with the stegadon spear to crush infantry on the charge

Slann mage priest (Lore of life) 365
    Higher state of conciousness
    Unfathomable presence
    Plaque of tepok 15
    BSB

    Skink Chief 380
    Stegadon warspear
    Ancient steg

    Saurus warriors 25
    Full command 305

    Saurus Warriors 25
    Full command 305

    Salamander 75
    +1 snack

    Salamander 75

    Cold one cav 5 175

    Scar vet 114
    Cold one
    Spear
    Light armor

    Chameleon skinks 5 60

    Skinks 10 70

    Skinks 10 70

1999 points in total. Feel free to suggest changes, thanks in advance!

    hey.

imo you should change your diciplines to focus of mystery and focused rumination then simply drop plaque

only a skink chief can take a warspear and a priest cannot take a normal stegadon it needs to be an eotg
and besides a priest aint worth it neither are an eotg unless youre playing a heavy GUNfire army really he cant really take anything down with their shooting that is also why u should not have higher state since it wont help in combat anyway cuz you will be loosing combat with or without it and then ure going to flee and die if you however want to use higher state and not waste points u should take stubbon crown! terror on slann is really a waste of 50 good points and you can buy a magic item that gives you terror chaeaper i think im not sure but anyways since you shoulld stay out of combat u dont need terror.

My mistake, it is a skink chief, just wrote that down wrong.

As for the slann, he is solo, and unfathomable presence isn't terror, its magic resistance 3. That means he has a 2+ ward against magic He is taking that so he cant be shot down. I don't plan on getting him in combat either.

    sry.......
but really slanns dont get shot down that easily.
number of bolt thrower shots it takes : 12 and thats at short range.
number of high level death magics : 5 each cast at 12+.
and as you have life you can heal back wounds with that.
and with loremaster and an add dice per casting he should get back to full every turn. (almost)
and if you simply dont make him die he can easily survive.
if however you dont want to you should take obsidian amulet instead of the dicipline of mr3 its 20 p cheaper and same effect as you cant get beneath 2+ ward save.
i dont think you should take bane head i simply forgot how crazy dwellers is.

Bane's head would be pointless when using dwellers below as it is a strength test or die. No wounds to double. By all means, still take it as you could use other spells with it (the woods spell comes to mind).

Well, I played this list, absolutely destroyed him! A fantastically fun game.

A few highlights was when the slann killed a great eagle in CC after taking a rear and flank charge and took it like a boss.

He had his wizard who was ethereal the same as the slann (Well apparently its not ethereal, its just normal attacks have no effect etc) tie up my Cavalry for 2 turns, then I managed to cast shield of thorns which killed him at the end of my magic phase!!!! HE even had a Dispel Scroll and forgot haha!

After his general went down the cavalry didnt really do too much, took out some white lions etc but the list overall synergized together really really well. Very happy lizzies here! :D

I dont think that life is a great choice for a slann with those disciplines, I'm all for a defensive slann but I would advise taking a stack of skink priests who will help you still dominate the magic phase in those phases where the slann's 4 life magic spell cannot help as they are useful predominantly in combat.

2 Skink priests (up to level 2 on both of them potentially) with dispel scroll and cube of darkness will let you shut down their magic phase and help you power through yours (channeling). Also will give you long range abilities to assist in the softening up of those low toughness elves early on.

I would drop the skink on the Steg to get the points for this then use the left over points on another salamander.
