After my firsts battle with Lizzards (my firsts battle in WH fantasy too), I´ve make a remake that realy worked against wood elves, Orcs and Goblins, Dwarves... Just a few considerations before your analisys of this list, the saurus with the spears I´ve had to leave them like this, because I like the visual of the miniature, so I have to assume the lost of points there (hoppening that the new armybook make them value), second I still don´t have Kroks and Terries, cause I just bought my army and I didn´t want to buy miniatures that possible will be redone in plastic with the realese of the new armybook... Addint, the strategy that I use with this list is basicaly leave in the middle of the deploy the two saurus units with the sallies in the middle, the scouting skinks in the opponent deploy zone when was possible, then the 2 units of skinks in the side of a saurus unit and another one being the flank protector of the another side of saurus, therefore giving space for the Slann little behind, the skink prist very close to the boards end, and the cavalry in support of the Saurus or the Slaan, when was necessary... this cause my army to have a crush on the middle of the table, and a strong side, the other side I leave it open.... Occuping just 2/3 of the tabble, with a hard middle and a strong tatic side...... My enemys generaly put their armyes trying to occup all his deployment zone to negate my scouts abilities. Well this tatic has proved to me a good one, cause generaly I locked or break the enemy in the middle of the table with close combat, for a few turns (making 1/2 of my army attacking 1/3 of the oponent army), then the strong side attacking hard the oponnent (making 1/2 of my army attacking 1/3 of the oponent army), leaving the 1/3 of enemy army inutilized for a 2 or 3 turns, moving and etc. Therefore I go against this last 1/3 of enemy army with all that i had on the table... I´ve played 5 times with this list, 2 against wood elves, 2 against dwarves and 1 against Orcs.... I´ve won 3 battles, one agains each army, then I draw with the dwarves, despites i made some terrible mistakes with this tatic, and one loss to the wood elves, my luck maded my two units of Saurus run on the second turn because of two treemens.... But at the end all of this, tatics and army list, worked very well... I want your suggestions.... Here follows the army list: - Lord 1 Slaan + 2th generation + Plaque Divine Protection + Plaque of Dominion + Banner - Hero 1 Skink Priest (this itens or down him to 1th level and give gim 2x dispel scrolls) + 2th leve wizard + Rod of The Storm (one use) + Talisman of Protection (ward +6) - Core 10 skinks + Blowpipe + Scouts 10 skinks + Blowpipe 10 skinks + Javelin and Shield 10 skinks + Javelin and Shield - Special 20 Saurus Warrions + Champion + Musician + Standard Bearer + 20 Spears + BS Quetzl (save +1) 20 Saurus Warrions - + Champion + Musician + Standard Bearer + BS Quetzl (save +1) 5 Saurus Cavalry + Musician - Rare 3 Salamander Hunting Pack Minis = 99 Casting Dice = 9 (plus 1 each magic spelled by the Slaan) Dispell = 6
I would consider dropping the priest down a level and using the offensive magic from the slann, one unfortunate miscast from him and you could potentially end your magic phase, which wouldn't be good. Also I have found the diadem is a pretty useful item, so I would try to squeeze it in somewhere, but that's just me
I'd definetely rework the priest. Also dropping the spears gives you 40 more points to use elsewhere! And actually last week with my WoC army my little lvl 1 wizard used a powerstone to cast fireball to start the magic phase and miscasted and ended my phase with 11 casting dice left on the table
