Okay so I posted this before but stupidly put all the point values in, even after reading it in the rules... duh... So here it goes...

I used to collect Lizardmen way back in the day (10+ years ago) and now I wish to get back into it! I have an army list here and would like advice on equipment/spells/unit size etc. Not so much about which units I have chosen (unless there is a huge mistake I dont see). I have forgotten almost everything about the rules, so feel free to explain things as if your talking to a total newbie :p Thanks guys, look forward to hearing yout feedback!

    Lords:

    Slann Mage (high magic?)
    BSB

    Heros:

    Saurus Scar Vet
    ColdOne, Light Armour, Great Weapon

    Skink Priest
Ancient Steg, Engine of the gods, lvl 2 upgrade

    Core:

    24 Saurus with Spears
    Full command

    15 Saurus with Hand weapons
    Full command

    2x Skink Skirmishers x12

    Special:

    20 Temple Guard
Will be grouped with Slann, Musician

    Rare:

    2 Salamander hunting packs
    2 extra skink handlers

Well thats it guys, hit about 1950 pts I think. Bring on the tips :D

I would give the Skink Priest the Opal Amulet so he can have a better chance at surviving the first cannonball that comes his way. If possible I would give the Temple Guard Full Command. That will leave you 15 more points. I would give the Slann the Iron Curse Icon and the give your Saurus character the Dragon Helm.

That's not exactly optimized but it's pretty close and you should probably keep things relatively simple for your first army.

    Hey :)

Thanks very much for the advice! Its much appreciated!

So would you consider my army to be an all-round type? Thats what I was going for. And is there any units/characters in there that you think I should just do without? I was originally going to not bother with the Stegadon, and instead have maybe another Scar vet or something... But I really like the idea of my wee skink priest charging around on a dinosaur haha! Also, should I stick with Heavens on my Slann, and maybe Beast on my Skink?

Go crazy with your Slann lore, try them all. I honestly hated WD the first 5 times I played it, now it is practically all I play.
15 Saurus is a bit small, most enemy units will always be steadfast on you so regardless of how much damage you deliver they stay stubborn. Not to mention the first fight they will likely be reduced to only +1 CR for ranks, that can mean a lot.
Give the slann some magic items and or upgrades, he costs too much to not be tooled. Start with the +2 channel dice & channeling rod combo, it is inexpensive and really makes your opponents envy your slann.
Perhaps merge the two saurus unit into one and use the extra points for more skinks or something like a dawnstone/ ward save for the scar vet.

Players who like to bring siege weapons will be your unmaking, but in my opinion that is typical for most lizard lists. Chameleons are the cheaper ($$ wise) way of siege insurance, and in 2000 pts they may actually get a decent position during deployment.
