With the Slann being such an obvious choice for Lizard tourney armies, I thought I'd try to put a competitive list together without one. I know that cannons and the like are always a concern for carny lists, but hopefully I have enough stuff in my list to try and counter warmachines. I'm definitely going to miss Light/Life magic, so I'd be interested to hear thoughts on Heavens. Also without the Slann BSB, I was obligated to add a scar vet BSB, and since I haven't seen a lot of scar vet BSB builds around, I'd love feedback on him as well. Here's what I've got:

    Saurus Oldblood
    Carnosaur
    GW
    Armor of Destiny
    The Other Trickster's Shard
(Makes for absolute character carnage if he makes it into combat)

    Scar-Veteran
    BSB
    Armor of Fortune
    GW
(I prefer defensive builds on my BSBs, but had a little trouble here)

    Skink Priest
    Lvl 2 Heavens
    Diadem of Power

    Skink Priest
    Lvl 2 Heavens
    Cube of Darkness

    24 Saurus Warriors (run 6x4)
    FC, Spears

23 Saurus Warriors (run 6x4 with BSB)
    FC, Spears

    22 Skinks with 2 Kroxigor
    FC

    5 Chameleon Skinks

    5 Chameleon Skinks

    3 Terradons

    10 Skink Skirmishers
    Blowpipes

    1 Salamander

    Total: 1999

That's a pretty good build, i usually go for a halberd instead cuz he's the only saurus with some init to him and take firefly poison (which sadly means no shard) so he can hurt ethereal things (magic poison FTW), but thats a matter of taste.

But, see if you can squeeze in a dawnstone it makes him uberhard to kill.

That. Now that riding a monster gives a plus to armor save, he'll be at 1+ with re-rolls. The Carnosaur will fall long before the Oldblood does.

Mine went three rounds with Settra to the front and a Tomb Prince to the flank. Settra accepted the challenge, the Carnosaur destroyed his chariot before being killed (Other Trickster's Shard was pure gold), and the Oldblood got Settra down to one wound... Then the Tomb Prince fatally absorbed all the wounds from instability and cursed the Oldblood, who failed the test and died where he stood!

Ahh, an epic fight, even if I got crushingly defeated.

    Edit: bad spelling

I have been thinking that there is no reason not to run 2 oldbloods on carnosaurs at 2k! It splits the nastiness that people are likely to send their way.

Hmm I do like the idea of using the dawnstone. What I'll probably do is playtest it as is, and if the lord needs more survivability I can try and free up some points for it. T5, 1+/4+ is pretty hard as it is tho...
