I'm facing a pretty well balanced Dark Elf army: Supreme Sorceress -Lvl 4 -Lifetaker -Sacrificial Dagger Master -Pegasus -2+ AS -4+ Ward 30 Warriors w/shields 14 Warriors 20 Crossbowmen 20 Corsairs -Frenzy 1 war Hydra 8 Cold one knights 5 Shades 5 Harpies 1 Death Hag -Blood Cauldron What's the word? Thoughts on Lore usage? Strategy? My extremely experimental army list?
DEATH!!!! As a lore, that is. Having Bane Head will help you kill the general or main caster fastly. If you ditch Bane Head than your should go for a Shadow or Life Slann. Shadow and Metal are more geared towards hurting enemy units. I have a feeling that Shadow will compliment your low strength units much better though. On the other hand, Metal will give you some flaming attacks for that blasted Hydra as well as chew through DE armor. I like the army list though! All those Terradons and Chameleons are going to p**s off the DE player, lol. At the 2000 pt level I feel that Saurus blocks should be a bit bigger. Under 1,000 pts the 20 strong unit will be ok, but after that you need at least 25. Especially since you have spears as to not waste the extra 20 points per unit. Alternatively, make sure you tie up those shooty units with your Terradons to help cover the Saurus.
Initiative is too high for pit of shades to be effective. That's what you will have to worry about. Only thing shadow is gonna do is hex...you'll have mind razor which is nice, but that's it; you're relying on close combat to win. As a dark elf player I can tell you, CC is not gonna be a problem, S3/T3, spearmen and corsairs are weak. Death is nice for character sniping, but looks to me he sac bunker is 14 warriors. I would honestly roll Life, not to sound cliche', but I have never played Lizardmen as or against, new to the army. Looking at dwellers, that scares me as an elf player, like I said earlier S3! That's half a unit dieing off! His Supreme Sorc is gonna b running off the board, no need to character snipe. Plus the buffs you give your saurus will keep them around enough to handle the spearmen. I agree with Qupakoco too, combine your saurus to one unit. You know he is bringing a block of 30 spearmen, so bring a block of 40. If he deploys first mirror his warriors with yours, same with cold ones. That's his hammer and anvil. block his cold ones with yours. If he rolls like me, his CoC might just sit there and stumble around from stupidity haha. I would almost try to add another salamander. Cause that's my biggest threat. That's the only thing that will take out my hydra so crossbows and magic are hitting it first. 2 is 1, 1 is none. Forgot to mention, take out the cauldron asap, that's his life source. The 5+ ward save blessing saved my ass numerous times. My army seemed ten fold better once I started using the cauldron, now I don't leave home without it.
