I am afraid that saurus warriors and temple guards (M4) will not be quick enough to even reach the enemy, it will take them 2 turns, 1 running and 1 charging, before they can even face the enemy... I don't know what army your playing against but anything like: skavens(with cannon), tomb kings, any elves, any human races, or ogre kingdom with cannons would've already killed you before you reached them, not talking about any magic the opponent will use. if you are willing to take a slow army with your slann mage, then make sure you atleast have 1 skink priest with the cloak of feathers, so you can fly near the enemy to shoot your magic attacks.
Yeah i might get shot down, true. But this army is just to mix things up, have fun and try things etc. Im actually meeting Dark Elf tomorrow and wanna go with this list, or something simular. I know for sure that he has one hydra, think even two. If he has any shooting at all, then its normaly a very small crossbow unit.
Get the flaming banner on the temple guard and send them after the hydra. Should be fun when he sees all those str 5 flaming attacks coming his way. Other than that for a just for fun punch em in the mouth list, this works fine.
I am playing a DE player tomorrow and I am thinking of going with a Skink Chief BSB on an Ancient with the Flame Banner 2d6 Flaming posion shots should be enough to stop a Hydra.
