Any comments on this list? I've still got a few (50) points left over, any suggestions what to do with those or should I just fill it up with a few more models? No comments or questions at all? Remember I'm pretty new to Warhammer so even 'obvious' comments are welcome
I've never had much luck with the plaque of dominion, but I can see how it could work (although from memory, wouldn't he generally have about leadership 10 with their rank bonus? That's not likely to fail). It's pretty expensive, though. I would be tempted to find room for a scar-vet in one of the saurus blocks for a bit more punch (particularly if he's got a rat-ogre in there somewhere). Otherwise, the list looks like a skaven killer.
What lore are you going to use? I can see Life being useful because you're going to have to outlast those slaves and weather some hard-hitting stuff. Light is always super useful, too. Shadow has some things to help out with HPA's and hexes to make hordes a bit softer. Most decent players will keep their wizard more than 20" away from your frog once you tell them that he has becalming cogitation, so your plaque of dominion won't get much use either. I'd cut both of them, maybe picking up an Obsidian Lodestone to protect the unit from magic if that's what you're worried about. I've had alright luck putting a Blood Statuette of Spite on my TG's revered guardian. If you're running Life, though, I might replace that with The Trickster's Other Shard. As much fun as the Terrifying mask of Eee! is, it won't be great against Skaven't Ld. Anything would work, though. With the extra points from the slimmed down slann, I would add a Sun Standard of Chotec (lord, I love that thing) or a standard of Discipline. I really like that list, though, super solid.
I agree with dropping the Plague of Dominion and Cogitation, you could probably use the points you free up to fit in a Scar-Veteran, should you so choose. Should give you a better answer to monsters and cavalry if you kit him out for it. If you are planning to go with Lore of Life, I would probably favor a Dispel Scroll over the Cupped Hands. Though thats all down to personal preference, and how many Dweller's you plan to cast without Throne of Vines. Looks neat otherwise.
Yeah I wasn't sure about the Plaque of Dominion, never used it but it sounded fun. I wasn't sure about the lore yet, I've used Life a few times with some success but was considering to try Light for a change. Scar-Vet sounds like a good idea, I'll see if I can fit him in. I'll have another look and post an updated list when I'm near my armybook again (probably tomorrow evening).
The Burning Blade of Chotec is a solid choice, just add defensive items to bring him down to 2+ and maybe throw a luckstone in there. Gives you an answer to ethereals, regeneration and high armor values. Alternatively you could run him on a Cold One with the Armor of Destiny and a great weapon, warmachines will be able to pick him out inside units but the 4+ ward makes him a super hard target. 1+/4++ with str 7 is pretty beastly, but he is also a bit more expensive and lacking magical attacks. If you want him in the Temple Guard I would recommend an Ogre Blade and the Dragonhelm, and a Flaming Banner on the unit. That unit should vaporise Hellpit Abomniations, Treemen, Hydras etc.
Didn't get around to posting the updated list before the match. I could still post it if anyone's interested. I lost, but it took 5/6 rounds (can't remember exactly) I think in the end one of the main problems was the Hellpit Abomination sneaking around a forest and catching my TG in the flank, causing them a bit more trouble than the slaves they were fighting in the front. I really should try to play more often than about once every two months. I notice I'm repeating mistakes, plus it'd probably be easier to develop something resembling tactics if I can actually remember some details from the last time I played.
