    King of the Hill!

Deployment and turn 1 - him

It was an interesting set up. I was as fast as he was but there weren't obvious targets for my cav. My plan was to claim the hill with my Saurus and use the cav to hunt down the archers. Try to get far enough ahead on scenario points that the battle mattered less.

His first turn he moved up and shot a few things.

    +100 scenario VP

    Turn 1 - me
    20250912_190941.jpg

My rippers to the right charged the sisters who fired and fled, and narrowly missed them

My rippers to the left charged the dryads. We left them on a single model and missed the overrun into the archers, stubborn too

Skinks only killed one wild rider
    Magic goes poorly

    +100 scenario VPs

    Turn 2 him
    20250912_193545.jpg
He charges my skinks who can't take any down with stand and shoot and they get wipes out. They follow into my cold ones - interestingly they park on my summon elemental spirit and it kills two of them.

The bears charge my rippers but surprisingly we eat them up. Lose one and take another wound but we rolls well, kill the last dryad, leave one bear on one wound and it flees. We hold ready to charge the archers.

His stag and dryads charge my other rippers. They do okay but still lose, break, flee and are caught.

Sisters can't really but are a mm off the edge of the table

He shoots my Saurus continuing to whittle them down

    +100 scenario VPs

    Turn 2 - me
    20250912_201854.jpg

Rippers charge the toad-archers, kill and break them they flee off the table and we follow.

The Slann's magic continues to do nothing, but the ruby ring totally wipes out the wizard on the hawk with the dispel wand. Nice.

The elemental spirit won't move so I don't get more hits on the wild riders. We win combat though after losing a few and they GG and that movement through spirit wipes out the unit

My Saurus charge the treeman. I thought it was a character and I regret this but I roll like crazy and take 4 wounds off it. It FBIGO. I do not follow up.

    +100 scenario VPs

    Turn 3 - him
    20250912_210801.jpg

His eagle charges my cold ones and dies
    His sisters rally
    He shoots my Saurus
    He moves into position
His bear rallies with a double 1

    +100 scenario VPs

    Turn 3 - me
    20250912_212106.jpg
My cold ones fail an easy charge into his treeman

My swarms charge his dryads and start to die quickly

Slann magic does nothing but ruby ring takes 3 wounds off his lord on a stag

Actually monsoon from both goes alright here. It gives me reasonable cover at times and saves the priest on a few turns.

    +100 scenario VPs

    Turn 4.- him
    20250912_213525.jpg

He finally shoots my Saurus under unit 10 so no more scenario VPs. His infantry fail their charge into my cold ones but his bear succeeds

    Turn 4 - me
    20250912_214627.jpg

My Slann finally does something and wind blast his lord to death

My cold ones charge his tree and roll terribly and lose badly, Aeontezin is on 1 wound and still in combat with tree. Jungle swarms are also on 1 wound.

    Turn 5 - him
    20250912_220023.jpg

Damn Tzeentch!!! We both thought it was 4 turns but on examination of the board and my photos lead us to believe that we had played 5.

We both thought it was would be close in the game points but I'd win with scenario, however after 4 turns it was 589 to 1280+600 so a thumping win to us.

However... One more turn? The swarms are gone. Aeontezin and treeman will strike at same time, probably killing each other. His sisters would rally. He might be able to get my Saurus under 25% maybe

Overall I would have won but I think the early end favoured me and the board state would have been closer but there was no coming back from 600 scenario VPs.

    Breakdown
Wow what a fun game. It felt really close although the VP said otherwise. It makes sense when you look at my army but we were really hanging on at the end.

Elementalism is still my least favourite lore. New magic rules still mean a lot to learn.

My opponent and I broke the game down and luck was wild all game. I think he really needed to get his staglord into combat earlier, I doubt my Saurus could have lasted against him and a treeman but he was concerned about how tough new infantry is.

Cold ones are not that good, but still somewhat fun.

This game has the best and worst of rippers. They pack that did well were game breaking. The other side sucked. If only we could make them a smidge more resilient.

It's really hard for me to see how we did so well, it just seemed the entire time like it was a very tight game.

And ruby ring can still bring it!
