    He had
    - lots of infantry
    - warlord with fellblade
    - warlord weeping blade paymaster coin
    - level 1 wizard (only) on the plague furnace
    - giant rats

So here is the problem with this game

I told my opponent is be taking an a-tier list. I think that's fair - only one carnosaur, little magic items. So it wasn't s-tier/tournament level. But infantry seems good now and lots of monsters.

He said he has a b-list army that would be a-list after the recent changes.

However I think he overestimated his list. In addition he was unwell and forgot a few rules interactions particularly the -1 toughness from the plague-furnace and the -1 to hit it can grant. Now I think about it he also forgot the paymaster coin. We try to match power levels for good games but this was one sided.

    Turn 1 set up
    20250719_120217.jpg
Straight battle+ baggage train + renegades

I tried to keep it simple, protecting my baggage train and keeping the arcane engine where I needed it.

I moved forward and rolled well with magic, fiery convection did some damage to the storm vermin and solar engine to the plague monks

    Tempest helped control them

    Turn 2 - me

I continued to rain magic down and set up to ensure he has to charge multiple units

My carnosaur failed an easy charge on the plague monks

    Turn 2 - him

He dispelled tempest and then managed to charge!

The TG were ethereal from walk between worlds so the storm vermin hit them with warpstone weapons.

The plague monks and furnace smashed into the Kroxigor (and did 8 wounds).

We managed some damage back but combat was comfortably won by the Skaven. With cold blooded we GG. The storm vermin hit the stegadon and the the plague monks were back into the TG/Kroxigor

The warlord with a fellblade hit the carnosaur and did 3 wounds but had his head bitten off after. My opponent thought this was a waste but I thought 3 wounds was decent against our best unit.

Turn 3 - me (and onwards)

Because of my positioning the game was close to over after this turn. Without the impact hits the Kroxigor and TG were able to get on top of plague guys and plague-chariot. Because he GG the TG were able to follow into the storm vermin and get a second round of combat. Fury of khaine was cast on the stegadon and we were just too strong. His storm vermin needed a 6 to FBIGO but even with a reroll he fled. A double 6 from the stegadon in pursuit meant his unit was done and it was clear the game was over.

The carnosaur mopped up the plague monks turned around to get to the ambushes after our baggage train.

The rats with spears put up a fantastic effort against the Saurus. They drew combat twice. But after the storm vermin broke the stegadon was able to reform and hit their flank.

The Bastiladon had no worries with the giant rats on the flank.

    Breakdown

    - His list was underpowered compared to mine (we try to match power levels)
    - Saurus and multi attack units are going to be great in 1.5 (maybe not against dragons)
    - High Magic is awesome when you can dominate the field. The renegade rules and arcane engine were too good. I rolled really well for magic too.
    - He forgot some key rules that might have changed that all important centre battle
    - 1.5 is going to much more fun!
