Personally I dont like reading Army Builder lists as its complicated... But thats my opinion. I think if youre going Slann you have to go magic full on. Currently you have as many PD as 2 lvl 2s. Thats just not on. Get a couple of Priests and that will bulk up your magic, making it easier for your Slann to get spells through. Maybe a lvl 2 with diadem and a Lvl 2 with something aggresive like rod of storms. Personally I think that Krox have been nerfed so I would avoid them, Im guessing you have the models though so I cant really blame you for including them. If it were me I would replace the Krox with an EoTG (points work out all right). Can I ask what are you planning to do with your Scar-Vets? If they are staying in your units then you dont need a shield as they would be protected, if they are going alone then maybe just have one and spend more points on him to make him more deadly. Naming all your Characters and Units is really cool.
Magic defense is the golden word... I want to play close combat army but Im sure there are many armies in the tourney has magic heavy compositions... and for magic defense ws2 t2 2w 2+AS skink priest on Eotg is not enough... so I need more reliable magic defense character... namely Slann… so I think I can take becalming cognition, and 2 dispell scroll . But there are 2 Dwarf player in the tourney... and if I take cognition and 2 dispells, I take upgrades about 100pst for nothing against dwarves and other Close combat armies without magic... Actually Slann for little Magic Defense, little Magic offense and Stubborn, immun to Psychology temple guards, my main anvil unit. The main idea of the army hold the center with solid CC units (saurus) and flank enemy with kroxigors... Use Skinks and Terradons for harrassing enemy flankers and fast cavalry... so its a close combat army not a magic heavy army actually... You are right I have Kroxigor models and I like them... they are great flankers and counter flankers... ther can easly destroy any flanker vanilia heavy cavalry and skirmishers... with the aid of skinks they can trap/destroy enemy fast cavalries too... and they are not stupid like coldone raiders... Eotg is better for Magic Heavy list, but as I said, i dont want to play magic heavy army... My saurus heroes are cheap weapons of destructions... They are great stats (Like human hero + Sword of might + Enchanted Shield,+1T) and only 99pst for each... My Slann use lore of Shadows wich means I can throw my saurus heroes to enemy warmachines, enemy Heavy cavalry without heroes ect.. They dont have magical weapons, so they can select GW(S7) or Hw&shield(2+As) for the right situation... and They provide extra hammering power to my spear saurus units... I love this guys... I try to make them cheap so I can get more unit...
I agree with you that a Slann really is necessary if you fancy strong magic defence, but if you want to take it up another notch why not see if you can add a basic Skink Priest w/ Diadem of Power. A cheap way of giving you the option to bolster your dispel pool in situations that you'll need it.
You are right about Skink priest. Level 1 Skink Priest and Diadem about 90 Pst... and skink priests are weak stats... I generaly lose my skinks (characters) too easly and early in game... There is a lot of stuff can target single priest , so I need to put him in a unit... In that case I have only 3 dependable unit (Saurus) and skink priest in the combat unit is generaly that units weak spot... and If I add a Skink Priest to my army I must drop a saurus hero or 1,5 skink unit... Im not sure about this is a good deal... If enemy isn't realy magic heavy (10+ PD) I can handle first enemy magic phase and I get a little damage on the second enemy magic phase... Magic is a matter of luck... If my enemy has lots of PD, he has more chance to roll misscast... and against Dwarf armies or Close combat heavy armies, skink priest is totlay useless 90 pst.
