The year-long campaign I am in (and the next tournament) has increased to 2000 points, and after the good advice on my 1000 and 1500 point lists I've come looking for feedback on my planned 2k list. We are NOT using the new End Times rules (so no Lore of Undeath or 50% Lords limit). Oldblood Carno (Loping Stride + Bloodroar), greatweapon, Armour of Destiny, Dawnstone, Other Trickster's Shard Tetto'Eko Scarvet Coldone, greatweapon, Armour of Fortune, Dragonbane Gem, Battle Standard 10x Skink Skirmishers Javelin + Shield 10x Skink Skirmishers Javelin + Shield 30x Saurus Warriors Hand weapon + shield, Full Command 5x Cold One Cav Hand weapon + shield, Banner, Musician Bastilidon Solar Engine Ancient Steg Giant Blowpipes, Sharpened Horns 1x Salamander The carno is my favourite Lizardman model so I really want to include him. He's a ton of points and I am fairly concerned that he's going to eat cannons to the face pretty much right away. That's why I took the steg + bastilidon, hopefully I can draw some cannonfire towards them. The main parts I am iffy on are the cold ones (I have had them do amazing things, but most often they die before they get to do anything) and the single salamander, but if I remove them what would I add? Drop the cold ones, take another salamander and more skirmishers? Or another scar-vet? Beast priest?
I would replace the CoR with salamanders if you have them. If there is one unit that everyone dreads from LM, it is sallies. This may invoke the WM hate, which is a + to you. Consider chameleons. I never thought much of them but recently have understood that although they don't rack up kills > than their point cost, they do distract your opponent long enough for the dinosaurs to arrive.
I have 1 more salamander, so that'd leave me with enough points for either a level 1 beast priest + scroll, a level 2 beast priest, or a scarvet on foot with minimal gear. I would like to try chameleons (or another 10 skirms) but I only have 20 skinks right now. They might be one of my next purchases.
