So I'm not really enthralled by the current Lizardmen book. Looking forward to August for various reasons , one of which being the rumour of new Lizards. It has nice toys but you have to pay through the nose for them. So this is a list I've been playing around with. Lord Slann 400 pts BSB Focus of Mystery The Focused Rumination The Becalming Cogitation Core 10 x Skink Skirmishers 70 pts 10 Skink Skirmishers 70 pts 30 x Sauras 360 pts Full Command Special 8 x Chameleon Skinks 102 pts Brave 4 x Terradons 120 pts 4 x Terradons 120 pts 26 x Temple Guard 452 pts Musician Banner Standard Of Discipline Rare 2 x Salamander 150 pts 2 x Salamander 155 pts 1 x Extra Skink Any advice? Criticisms? Comments? I would be much obliged for some feedback as I haven't used Lizards or fought any in 8th edition, They seem to be extinct. Poor dinos. Regards, Howie.
What lore are you planning to run? It looks pretty fine but a lot of people really dislike templeguard, because slaan is right in the middle of them so a small template will hit at least 8 and then kill about 7, and they are quite costly, + the enemy can easily outmanoeuvre them, is also what the haters say, + it locks all your eggs in one basket which is very dangerous. However having all eggs in one means that if you can stop it from getting destroyed, you pretty much cant loose. if you do choose to include them you should take life or light, and try to use few dice with each casting, and also definitely take cupped hands of the old ones. There is also an ongoing debate on whether or not you should have your warriors in horde, so that is also something to consider. Some people prefer chameleons over terradons as warmachine hunters, but since terradons can also pull many other roles, i think they are nice to have. You may want to consider including a scar vet or 2 on coldones, they are considered imbalanced right now. pop build #1 scar vet, cold one, light armour, great weapon, dragon helm, venom of the ff frog, amulet of itzl. pop build #2 scar vet, cold one, light armour, charmed shield, burning blade, dawnstone. The rest is pretty standard stuff, so not much to say about it exept it looks very hard. (some would say the temple guard and non horde warriors makes it less so) Lizardmen are a very good army able to compete at the top tables. They are very much alive and kicking.
