So at the end of the month i have a tourney to go too. It has that fun Comp scoring system to try to make people take alittle more fluff and really learn how to play their armys instead of taking only the most broken things. Ok This is a warm-up game for me to really test how my fluffy army would hold up against a not so fluff friendly army. LM Comp score 17pts Heros: Oldblood, carno, LA, ES, RT sword(+1S no armor save) ((I can't remember the name of it at the moment)) EoTG, LvL2, diadiem and scroll Scar-vet BsB LA,S,Sword of Might Core: 2x10- Skink skrims 17-Saurus (FC) Special: 3-Terradons 5-CoC (Banner) 3-Krox Rare: 2-Salamanders VC Comp score 4pts Heros: Vamp lord ethereal knows all the spells of a second lore LvL3 Vamp- Helm of command LvL2 Vamp- Black or dark thing (If you attack the vamp himself you attack last) LvL2 WK- BsB +1 to hit in CC -1 to hit bearer Core: 20-Zombies 10-Skeletons (FC) 10-Skeletons Corps cart bound ASF Special: 18-Grave Guard (FC) Rare: 7, yes 7-wraiths (Banchee) I wasn't real happy to see a 8 man ethereal unit. But I may see a army like this in the tourney so lets give it a shot. We rolled for the scenario and just my luck...the one that gives VC the edge. There is a build in the center of the board and the point of this scenario is to cap and hold this building. There is a forest on the left flank and one in the corner of my right flank deployment zone. LM setup from left to right Left flank skink skrim with terradons behind screen them and CoC, Middle of the table Saurus block with BsB, EoTG Rigth flank Carno, skink skrim and salamanders behind screen and krox fo the right. VC setup from left to right Left Flank, full command skeletons with Vamp that had the night/dark thing Middle GG with BsB and Vamp with helm right behind is corps cart Right Flank Skeleton, zombies and wraiths with lord. Spells I rolled were Far and shield (Not great vs 7-wraiths) Turn 1 VC both skeletons march forward GG move forward wheel alittle to face CoC. Cart stays right behind GG zombies mill around and wraiths move forward to get LoS on Carno. Magic His first spell he tries is firer blast on the carno double 6's One wound done to each oldblood and carno after saves. Bottom 1 LM Terradons fly into woods on left flank left unit of Skrims march foward and coc do the same. Saurus march toward build EoTG turns alittle toward the Wraiths just in case they charge the skinks next turn. Right flank skinks move forward making a wall/bumper Salamanders march left next to the EoTG Carno moves a little toward the skink wall but mostly just to face the wraiths if they charge and LoS is blocked. Magic Engine puts up bubble and I cast shield on the skink wall with double 6's and save 2 PP. (This is huge) Top 2 Left flank skeletons move back to stay out of charge range from CoC. Not thinking about it in turn 1 my friend forgot what the point of this game was. get the building. GG move toward the building with cart right behind. zombies turn to the left anf sit. right flank skeletons move forward now face engine but out of charge range. Wraiths move closer to skink wall. next turn my saurus will be in build unless he does something about it. He does he cast undead hord...double 6's 1inch in front of saurus. (Can't over run into a building sad face...) Shooting he howls at my skink wall 5 wounds....but that shield that I got off saves 3! Huge spell to get off! Bottom 2 Skink wall passes terror test. saurus charge new zombie unit. Terradons fly over skeleton unit on the left flank land behind it. Left skink move 6inch toward skeletons, Coc move forward alittle facing skeleton unit. salamanders move infront of engine just in case wraiths charge skinks and roll big for overrun. Enging and carno stay krox sit. Magic nothing. Shooting skinks miss skeletons...and I forgot to drop the rocks on that unit of skeletons.... CC saurus kill all zombies and overrun 1inch of building. Top 3 Wraiths charge skinks. left flank skeletons move back alittle more zombie move towad Terradons. Skeletons on right flank move up. GG enter building. Magic bound ASF goes off nothing much. Shooting banchee howl at skinks shield save 3. CC Skinks give their lives to slow the wraiths from hitting another target. wraiths overrun 6inch from the carno. bottom 3 CoC go stupid. Saurus charge GG in building, Carno charges wraiths. left flank skinks move up toward skeletons, terradons fly over cart and sit behind it and out of sight of zombies. Salamanders move to the right and un 6inch and now sit on the flank of the right skeletons and can see the cart. engine moves left and up toward the CC of the carno. Krox find see something shinny and sit. Magic Burning kills a wriaths and and two GG in the build (rolled a 10inch). Shooting skinks kill 2 skeletons on the left Terradons drop rocks on the cart and throw javes at it cause 2 wounds. Salamands burn the cart and finish it off. (Never done a building attack so the rules were new to me if i had it to do over again i would of directed all attacks to his BsB) My BsB gets KB from his BsB, 2 saurus die and two GG bite it as well. Saurus lose and leave building. OB challenges and kills banchee wins combat and wounds another wraith from CR. need a break will finish in a few. Your Friendly Thunder Lizard
Top 4 Left flank move back again. Zombie move and face terradons which are march blocking his army other then the wraiths, right flank skeletons turn toward salamanders. Magic not much raised skeletons in the right flank unit of 18 now and raised 2 GG. DD all the tries to heal the wraiths. CC (Here is error #2) Instead of challenging the lord with my OB I feel i have a good chance to kill a good chunk of the wraiths..(Also I forgot to challenge) His unit and lord does 2 wounds to my carno. The OB...wiffs his 5 attacks not a hit in the bunch. But the OB stands strong ready for the next round. Bottom 4 CoC charge skeletons on left flank salamanders move a little left to the flank of the skeleton unit on the right. skink skrims run left for table corner. engine sits still. Krox look around and find a nice spot to sit and watch the OB and wraiths fight. saurus not sure it they want any of that noise in the building sit and look at the building. Magic nothing...(3rd error I forgot to use burning on the engine to kill off more wraiths....and my friend would let me do it after i said the magic phase was done. sad face. Shooting salamaders flame the skeletons down to 3 men lots of burning undead Terradon riders throw javs at zombies for fun kill 1. CC Pay back time! The OB is mad really so mad he misses all his attacks again that 10 attacks against a WS3 all misses. The carno is killed he runs the wraiths catch him. CoC run over the skeletons and lose one of there one the vamp is killed due to CR. Top 5 and so on Well nothing really happened after that the engine killed the last skeleton unit with a charge and a burning and also killed off another wraith fo they were under half started. The salamaders tried to burn the GG out but came up 3 shy of under half strength. In the end it was a draw I maybe had 100 more points then him he got the 5 bonus points for the building but my comps score was far better and in the end I wouls have won if I played a little different. Great report! Painful to hear about oldblood missing all his attacks; I've had that happen more than once. I also once declared a shooting attack in a tournament before magic, caught myself before rolling dice, and still they wouldn't let me cast spells as I had passed over the phase (opponent did the same thing the next turn).
Ya that OB missing and my 3 huge errors were costly. I blame all the bad luck on my OB proxy. My real carno and OB were being painted so the 6th edit saurus was a fill in. He is old and badly painted (I bought most of my army from my friend it was his first army and try at painting when he started playing... lets just say I've seen better.)
