Hey everyone, first post and looking forward to getting involved in the community. So here is how my list is looking right now... Saurs Oldblood- Glyph Necklace- Hide of the Coldone- Burning Blade of Chotek- Shield- (Will most likely be deployed i one of my followin Saurus blocks Skink Priest- Dispel Scroll- Diadem of Power- Engine of the Gods- Skink Chief- Stegadon Warspear- Ancient Stegadon- 20 Saurus- Command- 20 Saurus- Command- 14 Skink Skirmishers- 6 Coldone Cavalry- 2 Salamanders- My only concern, and it can really impact the list, is whether taking the Ancient Stegadons as mounts still take up rare slots. If so then i cant keep the Salamanders. Would then probably go with some Terradons. I would greatly appreciate somebody's wisdom on the subject. Thanks for reading guys.
No the mounts don't take up a rare slot. Most people seem to think there will be a 25% cap on points spent on characters in 8th edition (coming out in July). The rumors are that mounts are going to count against that limit. If thats true it really messes with how most people play their stegadons. Someone is going to tell you to get terradons, might as well be me. Unless you know who your enemy is and that they wouldn't be useful, 2/3rds of people on this board will say you should add them to most every list. Mine are in the mail as we speak. Stupid expensive things, I could practically get a battalion box for what you spend on 4 of them, and rarely do you see new ones sold at a discount.
Thanks for the clarification. Do you know where this is written though? I play someone who may think they do and I would like to show some hard proof that they do not. But perhaps my word is good enough : P
You may just point out that minus a rule saying it does take up an extra slot, you would assume it doesn't. Just a note to anyone new to lizardmen, using more than 2 stegadons in a 2250 or lower game is considered unsportsman like, and most people will be cheesed off if you bring more than one engine of the gods. Depends on how competitive your games are. I would point out that other rule books specify when a mount takes up an extra slot of some sort, and ours ( which is fairly new) does not.
