8th Ed. 2000pts lizard vs WoC

    This will be the 1st time I play WoC with lizardmen in any edition on WHFB

    I know I won't be up against any daemon princes or chimera's and no monster cav ....also I know he normally run a unit of 8ish chaos knights and block of chosen
    And a sorcerer lord in with the knights


    I've gone for no slann as I really struggle to fit everything I want in with a slann I find

    Even 2000pts is a squeeze

    Don't post points costs for individual units. Also, special rules/equipment aren't needed, we all know that Skink priests have cold blooded and scaly skin.

    Shame on no slann, their Mage is going to have a field day with no lvl 4 or dispel scrolls. That may be the problem in the end in that we need a good, if not great, magic phase to keep up with the likes of Chaos. I hope wyssans works out for you, because I don't know if heavens has answers for chaos power level. I don't know if the list has an answer for chosen or chaos warriors in general. If you can hold up the knights and hit from the side with krox they can lay the smack down but you don't have enough chaff or blocks to deal with the usual chaos units. There is a reason Chaos Warriors are considered one of the best core units, they don't have any real weakness, and chaos special and rare can be insanely tough to take down. I'm sure with good tactical choices you can make it work, but I think it's an uphill fight for you.

    As stated above, your lack of Anti Magic is the elephant in the room. However the list does look decent.

    I have a lot of experience against WoC as a close friend runs them everyday. A couple of questions though, do you know what Mark of The Gods he will be running?

    I take it from the look of your list as well that you'll be running circles around him to do the damage. That doesnt sound like it will deal well with the big block of Chosen if they get into combat. Even the knights could do damage. The kroxigor are a great addition to this army to really knock the armour down a peg however. But the chosen can generate bonus' of extra toughness / attack / strength and skinks will not hold up... Ive tried...

    And your lone Scar vet seems an easy target for a LvL 4 with a grudge, even with the target saturation you have, he needs a ward save imo.

    If during deployment you can bait out his big units, Shove down those rippers and skirmishers and hold your Stegs and whatnot, overload a flank! Run down his weakest side and force him to footslog his way at you. You should tear him apart.


    Also get a slann, or ask if a proxy is ok! I believe a Krox base is the same size. Have one amazingly buff slann!

    played the game yesterday and had fun i tabled him for the lose of one bastiladon ( i took loses to other units but none of them was destroyed )

    i changed my list a little (because i bought 1 more bastildon ) i swaped the 1of rippas and a priest for another bastiladon with lazer and with the spare 35 points i made the remaining priest a lvl2

    hes had something like

    sorcerer lord on daemonic mount mark of tzeentch lvl4 spell fam in a unit of 5-6 unmarked chaos knights w/banner of +1 movement

    a Exalted BSB in a unit of 25-30 unmarked warriors sword and board
    18 unmarked chosen warriors halberds ( rolled and got +1 strength on EoTG table)
    10 warhounds
    1 unmarked chaos chariot
    tzeentch spawn
    5 hellstriders

    i deployed my skroc unit in a horde in the middle to face of the chosen and the knights
    i set tetto behind the skroc horde in the 15 skink bunker then put the two bastiladons either side

    then one flank i put the two stegs and scar vet and rippas ...facing the chariot and warrior block

    on the other flank i put the skirmisher skinks and the coldones facing the warhounds and hellstriders spawn

    before the 1st turn i rolled for the tetto D3 vanguard ( hoping for a two so i can vanguard the two steg up)
    only rolled a one so i moved the one steg up with the rippa unit which i placed facing backwards so i didn't have to worry about frenzy

    he moved his hellstriders 12" up on the other flank ( which i was happy about as i got to have a 1st turn charge possibility)

    rolled for 1st turn and although he finished deployment way before me he rolled low and i got the !st turn


    turn 1 lizards

    i charged the hellstriders that had vanguarded into a forest past my difficult terrain test but rolled a 4+ and took 5wounds for it it killed 2 of the coldones lol great start

    the skroc horde and the lazerdon's moved up to be just with in 24" of the knight unit

    the two stegs and scar vet moved up to be just outside the charge arch of the chariot and warriors flank and the rippa's flew over to the side of the chariot and warriors

    the skirmishers moved into a building which was long and i got me in range of the spawn

    magic roll high 11 i think so i thought i would roll 2 dice on the lazer at his knights and draw out some dispel dice rolled a 9 which i was happy with then roll 2dice to counter with lvl4 only needing 5 but unluckily he rolled low 3 i think and thought awesome this should blast a few off rolled the dice got a 1:( only got 2 S3 hits which was disappointing but still ok has his Sorclord had lost concentration so i have a 2nd go with other lazer 2dice get 8 he trys to dispel fails again im again happy roll to see the lazers power roll another 1:( get 1wound he easily passes

    the rest of the magic goes the same i fail to get a comet of cas i think he scrolled it

    combat the coldone take the hits of the hellstriders with no wounds and kill two in return they win fail to catch them (but the never pass they reform and over 3 turn run off )

    warriors turn 1

    warhounds charge the coldones flank the spawn moves hits the building with skinks in

    the rest of his army moves up and towards the skroc in the center (even the warriors and the chariot which i thought was strange as it left his chariots flank open ...maybe he didnt think the stegs could get in or that his chariot couls hold them for a turn but im not sure )

    his magic he roll double 1 ( all game his guys dice hated him if needed high he rolled low...needed low rolled high felt sorry for him but the dice gods said f*** you to him this game) he tried to steal a spell off my priest but failed


    the spawn killed 2skinks and they ran out the building the coldone took the hits off the wardogs and only did 1 wound but pass ld test and pass to reform and facethe dogs


    lizard turn two

    with the chariots flank showing i took the invite and charged the steg and scar vet in the other steg (that vanguarded) moved up behind the chariot to face the rear of the warriors and get some lucky poison shots with 2giant blowpipes on the knights

    the rippa unit pass the frenzy check and move to the rear of the knights (the blot toad markers is in the knights)
    hoping to get some lucky killing blows on the knights at 43 each they only have kill 3 to get their own points cost back

    the skroc and one of the lazerdons shuffle back 3" to make the chosen's units charge alittle harder

    and the other lazerdon moves forward to redirect the knights and hold them so the rippas could charge them in the rear

    lizard magic turn and its my turn to roll badly rolled 3 lol and so i try to 1dice the two lazerdons 1st one fails 2nd goes off but is dispelled

    combat the steg does 3 wounds with impact hits he passes two and takes 1 wound
    i then proceed to fluff my attacks with all and only win by 2 but even with aBSB reroll he fails and gets run down
    i over both into his warriors flank

    the wardogs kill 1coldone but the coldones kill 2 and win the fail LD and run the coldone run them down


    warriors turn two

    the knight take the bait charge the bastiladon and the chosen fail charge the skroc unit the spawn trys to move into the two remaining coldones but falls a 1"short

    warrior magic

    rolls 5 for the winds and chucks it all at the 2d6S 2d6 hits spell at the skroc unit casts iresstitablly and gets 9 S8 hits i was lucky only wounding 1 kroc and killing a bunch of skinks i then get lucky pass my toughness test and get 6+ regen on them lol

    warrior combat the knights and the sorclord fluff there attaks on the bastiladon and pass ld test and hold :)
    steg does few 6-7 kill total the unit champ challenged my scar vet and i win his BSB makes way and tries to do some wounds on the steg but cant get pass the Toughness 6
    i win combat but he sticks and reforms to face


    lizard turn 3

    skroc unit with their new found regen powers decide to charge the chosen :)
    the 2nd steg charges the side of the warrior units and rippa's into the rear of the knights

    lizard magic roll low again lazerdon fires at the spawn gets it off roll a 1 for the third time fail to wound lol
    managed to get wildform on the rippas

    combat the stegs grind in to the warriors take no wounds back the scar vet challenges the BSB but fails to kill him only one wound done
    the warriors are steadfast and hold

    the knights for some reason still attack the lazerdon instead of the squishy rippa's do 3 wounds on lazerdon
    the rippa do 1 wound on the sorclord and killing blow 2 knight win combat but he the knights stick

    the chosen split they attack half half kill one kroc and 4 skinks i kill 7 chosen and win by ranks and he again (poor guy ) fail LD check runs i chase but fail to cut him down and fall 1" short

    the stegs carry on smashing warriors all the time not taking a wound the BSB and scar vet have pillow fight
    warriors hold coz of steadfast

    warrior turn 3

    spawn move into skink skirmishers (oops forgot got to say earlier they rallied and moved up and shot at said spawn)

    chosen dont rally

    magic was a low roll or he failed to cast can't remember
    combat the the knights finally kill lazerdon only wound the rippa's once
    hits back does 1 wound on sorcerer lord and wounds 2 more knights not killing blow but the rippa unit still has +1T+1S from wildform which helps meaning its -3 to the knights Armour save :)

    the unit breaks and is run down

    spawn kills some skinks but stick coldblooded bastards

    the stegs grind more 4-5 more warriors off and take no wounds and the scar vet finally kills the BSB
    the warriors stick again coz of steadfast


    lizard turn four

    skroc charge fleeing chosen they flee some more
    the 2 coldones charge the rear of the warrior unit

    i think its at this point he calls it a day we shake hands and thats the end of the game


    after it all the only destroyed unit was the lazerdon which i think died a hero



    fun game for me but not sure the other guy like it his dice rolls were the worst

    2 lazerdons i think could be strong if you don't roll ones ...but this game was odd because other than turn 1 where i got 11 on the winds every other turn his and mine we didn't roll higher than 6 i think lol


    the reason i went magic light is because ive just come from using my highelf army which i played with a least a lvl4 archmage and ive always used a slann in the old rules and wanted a change so i gone for tetto'eko which although hes a loremaster i think his other abilities are his strong points

    Sounds like a fantastic game for you! The second bastildon is actually a really strong addition to your army, those 35 points could even be a dispel scroll in future if he wants revenge!

    Fantastic type up of the batrep. Really lets us see how you got on and I loved reading it!

    Good game man! I had a game against orks and gobbos and a slann with high magic and 2 spells killed 47 gobbo archers in a 150 man unit in 1 turn, bastildon killed 8 and they fled. Showing the power a slann can bring which is something again you should consider!

    Keep it up dude! Ill keep an eye out for your posts!
