I am preparing for my first game of the new edition, it will be 2k against beastmen, a giant, minotoars, chariots,doombull and shamens to make the doombull fly is what he likes, so here is my list, it is more of an all opponents (I do not like tailoring my lists) and I don't have a copy of the new rule book and there fore am not o sure on the new lores or wargear, hear is the list: Slann with Higher State of Consciousness and Cupped Hands of the Old ones Saurus Oldblood with light armour, Dragon bane helm (I got a look at the rulebook a few days ago, this cought my eye) and Halberd 40 saurus warriors with full command 2 units of 20 skink skirmishers 1 unit of 10 Skink skirmishers 21 Temple Guard with full command, war banner and venom of the firefly frog on champion 4 terradons salamander hanting pack (2 salamanders, 2 extra handalers) so what do you think?
Since the Slann will be with his temple guard, I don't think he'll need the Higher State ability, as he'll get a 2+ Look Out Sir roll. Either Focus of Mystery or Focused Rumination would be my choice to maximize his magic potential. I would also split up the two 20 man skirmisher units into four 10 man groups. Skirmishers fire in ranks now, and only the front two ranks can shoot. Ten wide is pretty unwieldy, and skirmishers still don't get a rank bonus, so I'd go for the mobility. Other than that, it looks like a fun list against the vile Beastmen, and I think you'll have great success with the salamanders now that they've gotten such a big upgrade in the new rules.
