2200 Pts - brand new to fantasy - here goes... Lords: Slann Mage-Priest -BSB, Cupped Hands, 2 disciplines 395pts Heroes: Skink Priest -Cube of Darkness 105pts Core: Saurus Warriors: 40 dino horde unit -spears, full command 30 dino wannabe horde unit -spears, full command 12 Skink Skirmishers -blowpipes 912/500pts req'd Special: Chameleon Skinks: 2 units of 6 (12) 20 Temple Guard -full command 519 pts Rare: 2 Salamander Hunting Packs - extra handler each 160pts 2091 / 2200 (For all i know, my math could be terribly wrong, but I think i gotit along with army reqs) I didn't list magic items/standards because i really am not sure what is good for which units. I simply left room at this time. My logic is that this is an all-corners list with the models I currently have, but criticism is welcome, please. The idea is chamos for warmachines and pure scout annoyance/fun. The sallys (i only have 2 and would like them together) are to cover the flank i choose. The skinks can lead/cover another flank - not the best at this job, but what i had in mind for deployment. The saurus blocks are there to do work and I included a highlevel of temple guard to join the fight. I plan on taking light as my lore. I will probably always take focused rumination, and either lore-master or becalming cognigation depending on my mood that day. Again, I'm new and excited to play, paint, and collect. Thanks!
Looks pretty good mate, just a few things, nothing major though: 1- My calculations make your total core points about 70-80 points more than you have stated, remember it costs extra to give saurus spears, and skirmisher skinks are more expensixve than normal as well, not sure which you added up wrong, i'm sure you will though. 2- stick the skink priest in the skinks to get his lookout sir saving roll, if you plan to run him alone however, i'd maybe give him the flying cloak. 3- Some on here will say that if you are using Lore Of Life, you don't really need Cupped Hands, perhaps its points better spent else where. (Having said that i run life AND take cupped hands, Just personal preference) Other than that, quite a nice list for someone new to lizards. My OldBlood welcomes you. Yours Aye Mixer
Give your slann the banner of discipline. That will make the temple guard unit almost unbreakable). The slann should also take focus of mystery and focused rumination. If you can fit it in, take becalming cogigation as well (nothing beats denying your opponent 6s in every casting phase). As far as lore goes, that will depend on your play style and who you are playing. The safe way is life. Light offers some really nice buffs.
I knew something didn't feel right adding that up! Thanks for the intel check (bad d&d joke) I was incorrectly leaving out the base cost for command models as normal warriors and simply adding 60pts to 64 wars with spears. In the affirmative, I will keep my 40dino horde unit with spears, and then make the smaller unit 24 with sword&board. This should free up room for some more chamo' skink action. I will then have 888 as my core cost, still well above the req. (something around that) Thanks again!
Sounds good to me mate, i'd reccomend playing a few battles with the list as it is now and see what works for you and what doesn't, then if you find 40 spears is too much (unlikely ) or something else isn't working you can then adjust accordingly. Yours Aye Mixer
