Here is the first list I plan on trying. I am somewhat limited by the models I had from 7th Edition. I plan on buying another box of Saurus to beef up those units. The krox unit is a bit of an experiment. I have no idea if it will work or not, but it will sure be scary. Slann Mage-Priest General; Battle Standard Bearer The Focused Rumination Becalming Cogitation Focus of Mystery Soul of Stone Saurus Scar Vet LA Shield of the Mirrored Pool Burning Blade of Chotec 20 Saurus Warriors Musician; Standard Bearer; Spears 20 Saurus Warriors Musician; Standard Bearer; Spears 2 X 10 Skink Skirmishers 20 Temple Guard Musician; Standard Bearer 3 Terradon Riders 6 Kroxigor 7 Chameleon Skinks 1 Salamander 1 Salamander 2251 (one point over, doesn't matter where I play) So let me know what you think. Are the Krox totally insane?
I'd drop Soul of Stone and take cupped hands instead. New miscast table is damn brutal. And maybe take MR3 instead of Becalmig cogitation. 4+ ward vs damage spells I would also take champ for your T Gbox to challange combat characters Dunno if Spears are worth it for saurus warriors, since they only get supporting attacks from 2 ranks and lose 6+ parry ward. Those are the only changes I'd make. I really like your list
Actually it would be 2+ ward versus damage spells as MR stacks with your normal ward. But becalming is an excellent focus still, and can easily completely shut down their magic phase. Since you are running with TG I would also advise running cupped hands instead of Soul of Stone, While re-rolling a miscast is nice, there's no guarantee it would be a better one, and could be a worse result. The Slann can take the hits pretty easy, but you are not gonna want your TG to. I would also switch out the shield of the mirrored pool, as it is much too situational. Maybe go for maiming shield or enchanted shield. Spears on saurus are ok as long as you have at least 4 ranks to maintain the 3rd rank after taking some wounds. So until you play test and feel they need the extra 6+ ward, keep them. The krox is not insane, as I am considering a unit of 6 as well. They may not be the optimal choice, but who doesn't like playing with huge crocodile looking guys Just remember that they have to roll for fear every round of combat.
Good points everyone. I feel like the list is solid. I have yet to playtest, buy I should get in some games soon. My Saurus are modeled with spears so I'll stick with that. Who knows maybe in 9th they'll be amazing... I had considered cupped hands, buy I want to still have friends at the end of the game I take mirrored shield because my main opponent is skaven and that's a lot of warp lightening coming my way
