Okay, so I got the Lizardmen army book yesterday and I was going through it, read some army lists and was wondering if this would be a good army list. Lords: Slann Mage-Priest Focus of Mystery, Focused Rumination, Belcaming Cogitation. Cupped hands, Dispel scroll, BSB Heroes: Skink Priest Lv1 Core: 23 Saurus Warriors FC 23 Saurus Warriors FC 566 Special: 8 Chameleon Skinks 8 Chameleon Skinks Stegadon 6 Cold one Cavalry 16 Temple guard FC 922 Rare: 3 Salamander hunting pack Wich brings me at a grand total of 2248 points. The idea is to have the Saurus take some of the beating while the Stegadon dish out the damage, the Slann of course being the powerful caster reigning destruction upon his enemies and the Chameleons being the warmachine hunters. And the Cold ones being the hammers. That's what I got so far. Any feedback will be very helpful seeing I don't have much experience with Lizardmen yet. Updated the list Do NOT post individual points costs for units/items. Thanks.
First off-yes you do need 25%. As per the rules, Core needs to be at least 25% of the army. Currently, yours is not. That said, you still have over 50 pts. Make those saurus units 20 man strong, problem solved. As for the list-what purpose do those skink skirmishers serve? 12 ranked skinks are going to do a whole lot of nothing for you. Stegs are pretty vulnerable against cannons now, it may be prudent to put the BSB on your slann, as a single cannonball can then not make you lose your very important bsb. On that same note, you really need something to deal with warmachines. 2 unit of chameleon skinks do this very well. In fact, 7 chameleons are the same cost as that unit of skinks you have, and will do a whole lot more for you. To make up for losing core %, use the extra pts, and drop the command on the cold ones to add more saurus, or skink skirmishers-at least they can harass the enemy and stay a bit safer with the -1 to hit. The reason I think FC on CO cav is not needed is they are a flanking unit, for harassing, and they are already SOOO expensive, adding 20% cost to the unit for the meager benefits of command aren't going to do as much for you are other things. One last thing-consider changing the Cold Ones, or something else, to salamanders. They are one of, if not the best unit in the army, and you are doing a disservice not taking one or two.
Thank you Nuclear for the reply, my main concern though is, I place way too much points in my slann and his unit and thus making him a prime target for everyone to fire at. Without the BSB he is already the general and the unit of TC he is with brings them to about 800 points. And I was pondering of dropping one stegadon for the Salamanders.
don't worry about that. With the Slaan's buffs and the TG, if the enemy has gotten through all your stuff to get him, you've probably lost anyway. The Slann in TG unit is normally VERY hard to kill.
