8th Ed. 2250 army list tournament ready

    This is the army im going to use this weekend on a 2250 point tourny. its only 2226 points so i was wandering if you could help me out with the rest of the points. I have had a lot of succes in the past and i regularly score 5-0 or 4-1 against my friends and have won the last two championships i played with my friends, but i dont know what will happen against more experienced players lol so please help me out!!

    Slan + rumination, mystery, cogitation + bane head + cupped hands + dispel scroll= 460

    Skink Priest + ancient steg = 355

    2 Salamanders with extra skink each = 160

    14 Temple guard full command = 259

    4 Terradons = 120

    4 Terradons = 120

    10 chameleon skink = 120

    18 saurus warriors full command + spears = 246

    18 saurus warriors full command + spears = 246

    10 Skink Skirmishers = 70

    10 Skink Skirmishers = 70

    Total: 2226

    Please help me out, i was thinkink in adding not more models but instead magic items or better yet magic banners. any suggestions are more than welcome and please feel free to comment on the army itself as well

    iirc the cupped hands and dispell scroll are arcane items, since you can only have one per character i'd recommend putting it on the priest instead :). And maybe change it to cube of darkness while you're at it since it acts like a dispell scroll but can completely nullify a magic phase for an opponent :).

    Personally i'd do less terradons, bigger saurus blocks and some more temple guards but i guess you dont have points for all that... Perhaps skip spears on your saurus since they are so few...

    thanks! i was thinkink just that, making the terradon units into 3 models instead of 4, and i thought about the cube of darkness but there is only a 50% chance of working, and it just might fail when you need it the most!

    why would you take the spears out of the SW? i know it can give them the ward save but i loose 6 attacks per turn. please explian further, and so far they have worked out pretty well against my friends dark and high elves tearing them apart

    The cube still works as a dispell scroll, its only the ending of the magic phase that is 50% chance :).

    You count the fact that all your saurus will make it into combat, many games that is not what really happens... When you encounter cannons, bolt throwers, organ guns, stone throwers, big magic spells and vicious shooting with various guns many saurus will just lie down and die :). Now i dont know if you run them 6 wide or 5 but my personal rules are to never take spears unless my block is at least 24models strong...

    If 6 saurus die before you go into hand to hand combat, and a few more dies because you strike last then the spears really does no good except rob you of a 6+ ward save...


    Im impressed that you beat high elves in close combat :jawdrop:. I usually get slaughtered by swordmasters unless i manage to salamander them out :). And how is the spears helpful in a 18unit saurus block against high elves and dark elves with their tons of attacks with reroll? :S They must be playing really weird letting you get into combat with full force :).

    i understand what your saying, but i try to keep one unit behind the steg so it gets the hard cover benefit, and then putting a lot of power dice into shooting protection like iceshard blizzard spells and the EoG, and almost always get to battle with my stegadon maybe low on wounds, but thanks to the lore of life throne of vines,and flesh to stone, if i get them both off, there is no way most armies will cause me 3 or more wounds, and i also have a lot of terradons to target cannons and shooters plus with the chameleons there is a lot of damage that can be caused by 20 poison darts starting just 12 inches away from you. so i usually manage around
