I am playing in a 2250pt campaign and the General must be fixed for the entire campaign (8-10 games). The rest of the army is flexible, but the General must be the same. This leaves me in a quandary, deciding on my Lord, while having to fit within the 562.5 pt limit of the 25% Lord choice.

    1. Slann - fully tooled, standard build of 222.5ss.
    2. Oldladdin - mobile killer.

Opponents for the campaign will be mainly Orcs & Goblins and Dark Elves, possibly a chaos/undead player. Note that I have only played one game in 8th, so I have no experience with any O&G/DE book changes since 6th.

In the past, I have played with the Slann as the center of the army, bunkered in his Temple Guard. This is with a balanced list of typically only 2 skink priests for heroes, block of warriors, skink skirmishers, couple salamanders, two groups of Terradons, and a support unit or two (chameleon skinks, etc). This has served me well, but I am open to new ideas.

However, the Oldladdin build would conceivably give me flexibility for a variety of army compositions as I would not have fixed points set aside for the high-priced slann and the TG bunker, but I am concerned of losing out on the powerful Slann magic phase.

Things I could try w/ Oldladdin:
    1. Same build as I have always played, only taking a naked Slann which would barely fit within the point limit.
    2. Adding Tehenhauin as a second Lord choice - a fluffy lvl 3 wizard choice, but would allow me to try out swarms and 2 Ark of Sotek Bastiladons, backed up by priest(s) and/or Tetto'ecko
    3. Various other hero configurations with the freed up points - Cowboys, Gor Rok, Chief/Ripper/Egg, etc.

What sort of pitfalls should I be on the lookout for with each of the two primary options - fully-tooled Slann or Oldladdin with a naked/no Slann? Which would allow me to be more competitive?
