How are you gonna tackle Skaven? .. With that little units, aren't you gonna be swarmed to death? Or are you just gonna stay in the middle of the battlefield with 3 saurus blocks and hold ground until you magic them to death? Anyway, I just find it hard to beat skaven... So please let me know how you do it!
The key to beating skaven is having units that can get around their flanks. Terradons are great for taking out anything that would try to hang back and blast you. Magic can kill a lot of their stuff too. Pit of shades will get the doom wheels and the screaming bells and the warp cannons... Lore of Shadow might just be the way to go, plus we have a lot of terror/fear causers to begin with. Anything involving psychology will send them running as most of the rats have LD 5 or less, again taking away their rank bonus will be huge here.
Pit of Shades can kill the Doom Wheels, Bell and the warp cannon? . hmm. that spell just seemed useless since Skaven have high initiative, but I guess those units don't? What about the furnace and the abomination? I guess the furnace will also be handled by the PoS, but the abomination? he requires fire attacks? . So a scar-vet with burning blade, IF the scarvet survives the CC.
Yeah, check their stats. They don't have an initiative and hence cannot jump away from the "Pit" that opens up below them. You might have to check with some of the rules guru's around here but I believe there was a FAQ that answered that question. I'm not sure the stats on the Abomination, but you could try blade of realities as well. One failed leadership save and he disappears, and can't role to come back. The LD 5 or lower for most rats puts them at a disadvantage to this tactic as well. Rat Ogres especially since they have multiple wounds. Lore of beasts can really mess up the Abomination. "The Beast Cowers" makes it so that it can't move or even attack in combat. Plus, it's movement is so random that it may not be a problem for most of the game. Unfortunately, it could be a problem on the second turn too... 3D6 movement right?
Think that it might not be the case. Pit swallows war machines which as far as I know are separate from their crew. Multi-part models, eg our steg, get to test on the best initiative (ie we get to use our crew).
Unfortunately, terradons and salamanders are practically useless with REACTIVATABLE stormbanners (Hopes to god this gets faqued)
