7th Ed. 2250 nooby list

    howdy everyone. I've been wanting to play lizardmen for a long time and i think i finally am gonna do it. ive tried just about every other army out there and it hasnt done it for me. I really really enjoy the model range that the lizardmen have, and as a painter first, player second, that is how i design and play armies. anyways, here is the list.


    slaan mage priest, Slann Mage-Priest. Rumination, Mystery, Becalming Cogitation 420
    cupped hand of the old ones

    scar veteran, shield, light armor, BSB, war banner - 143

    scar veteran, scimatar of sun resplendent, light armor, shield - 143

    17 saurus, FC - 234

    I love the Slaan model so much, and any info on how to properly equip him would be greatly appreciated. same goes with the scar veterans, they go with their respective saurus units. Im using the Chakrax model for one of them, so if anyone knows a good great weapon build that would be cool. i added a guy each to my skink units becuase i had points left over and didnt see any other useful upgrades for the slaan. im unsure if kroxigors are good, but once again i love the models so i'd like to figure out a way to get them in there. the stegadon is awesome and I hear its good, so I think thats ok.     as long time lizzies player (about 4 years) i would say the folowing

    Slann:looks good, might wanna give him a bane head so that u can cause double wounds to his general, also i would make him the bsb, cuz he will be near ur troops most of the time.

    Scar-Vet 1: give him the burning blade, enchanted shield and a cold one, that gives u a 0+ save and a -4 modifier to enemy Armour saves, and also gives u flaming attacks.

    SCar-Vet 2: Give him the great weapon, and the charm of the jaguar, with the slann u should be able to squeez out enough dispel dice to get it off, it makes him great war machine hunter.

    Saurus look good:if u use the cold one hero, u can drop one of the units to 16 (16+the calvary base=18) and make the other unit 18, cuz if u use the jaguar charm guy, he wont be in the unit for very long.

    Skinks look perfect, should be enough poison to take out the big bad enemy monsters and such.

    i dont take kroxigors, but if u want them cuz they look cool, thats fine, but if u try them out and they dont work it would waste ur money to have bought 6, i would get either terredons or sallis.

    TG: drop them to 16 cuz with the slann they make a great 5x4 unit, which is amazing with either a 2+ save or 11 str 5 attacks.

    Stegedon: i would find a way to free up some points and stick an Engine of the Gods into ur list, they are a great unit, with bound spells that cant be stopped, and that can kill loads of enemies, or protect u from range attacks.

    PS: i like to take a small unit of Cold One riders(about 5-6) and either stick the hero on cold one in them and make a great flanking unit, or give them no command, and use them to support ur saurri.

    I hope this was helpful, and i hope u understand where im coming from with my ideas. oh and btw do u own a lizzies army book, because if u dont some of this stuff might ne a little hard to understand ei; bane head, burning blade etc...anyways good luck and ur lizard army and i hope i managed to help decide on a army to crush ur warm blooded enemies with :rage: :D

    thanks for the quick reply! i do own a book so i will have a gander. does the bane head work with magic? if so ill definetly do that. good idea with the BSB for the slaan. what do you think modelling-wise? i like the GW scar as well. ill try it out.

    Yes the bane head works like this: nominate one enemy character, all unsaved wounds caused by ur hero to that character are doubled.(thats not the exact wording, but it the basic idea.) So it says ALL unsaved wounds, so yes that includes magic, cc and even shooting.

    modeling wise, i would say u should make a scar-vet in sold one by converting a cold one rider, i dont personally like the current model, and by kit bashing with the tg and saurus sprue u can make a great model.

    one very cool model imo is the razordon, however gamin wise the sallis are a much better choice, i mean -3 to the save and instant panic check, thats sweet, plus they have a slightly longer range. The kroxigors are very cool models, and unit of 3 could do a lot, however i think having 6 like u have it set up i too much. And last but not least, terredons, they are our fast cav, they also happen to be fliers, and the only fliers that can land in trees, and of course they can drop rocks and hit and run, so they can hunt enemy mages, war machines, or they can bait frenzied unit around the board for 2-3 turns of used well.
