so this is going to be my tournament list. tell me what you think? Oldblood -Carnosaur -Light Armour -Shield -the Blade of Realities Skink Priest -EotG -lv 2 -Diadiem -Scroll Scar-Vet -Light Armour -GW -Charm of the Jaguar 18 Saurus Warriors -Spears -Musician -Standard 18 Saurus Warriors -Spears -Musician -Standard 10 Skink Skirmishers 10 Skink Skirmishers 5 Kroxigors Ancient Stegadon salamander
I like the list in general, it feels softer in terms of comp score which is good, but I just see the following issues you may face... You have the Lv2 Priest with the Diadem, which means you will probably be banking your PD and not casting all to much. This means there is not much to dispel. This goes against having the Charm of the Jaguar, which in all likely-hood will not get cast. My other worry would be with the 5 wide Krox which is a very wide unit that is hard to maneuver. But if you are comfortable with it, it would be cool to see that march across the board. Hope that helps!
You will probably have an issue with a gun line list. No terradons or chameleons, to get to warmachines quickly.
hey there guys, thanks for the response. i know my magic is not that great but what i always seem to do is cast with 1 PD and use the other 2 in the pool and cast something big. then tell the guy that i'm using diadiem. by turn 2 they should know what's going on. if i'm in range, i'll use the charm, if not, then just keep going on with the game. by turn 3 they really know what's going on and that usually draws out all the DD they have and then i use my charm. its just a fact of getting the opponent used to not using their DD and by turn 3 they really want to throw all of them away. but my plan was to use the SV to fly out and take care of Warmachines or character hunting. but i would really like to know where else i would be facing problems with. also, i love the 5 wide Kroxigors. it makes all of my opponents pause and think for awhile. at first i always ran them on the flank, but it really was never that effective. but yesterday i ran it right in the middle and had my saurus on the flank of the kroxigors. it turned out really good. no wheels to consider and just rush them straight out. that takes care of their core troops and the stegs and carno on the flanks to take care of their elite troops. here's how i want to setup.
I just don't see you getting the charm off, if it's a tourney and they have played lizardmen before it wont surprise them if you have a scar-vet on foot it is almost a given he has the charm. And most will probably be ready for magic defense, and have more than enough DD for your single priest and charm. The charm usually only works when they have to choose to either let a spell go through or let the charm go. And if they figure out that is your only attack against warmachines, well they will let your spells go. Plus you might not even roll any dangerous spells to them.
well, if not, they still have to face a S7 T5 scar vet when they crash into my blocks. i really want to change the charm out for the hide of the co but i really hate stupidity checks. i always fail them!!!!!!! but do you guys think its worth it?
I also hate being subjected to stupidity. One bad roll can screw up your entire gameplan and cost you a precious turn. I would definitely try to find at least 90 points for a 3some of terradons. I never run krox because I'm not too impressed with their survivability vs their cost. 4+ armor save/toughness 4 will not be difficult to penetrate for dwarf gunlines, high elf swordmasters, etc. But if it works well for you, great! But yeah, if it were me I'd probably end up dropping that unit and putting in 2 units of 4 terradons. You'd still have points to spare.
i've been preparing myself by using 5 kroxigors in my last 4 games, i don't know if you guys have tried this but man i love it. you go through core troops like nothing, elite infantry it may take awhile but at least you tie them up as well. the only thing i've been thinking about for this list is whether or not to drop the charm and do something else with it. maybe make him the BSB or give him the hide of the CO, or a magic weapon, or something. i'm not sure what i can give him in order to help improve my list. i believe that most of my army is covered in facts of protecting against shooting (skink screen and Potent of warding), i have 3 hard hitting units, i have 2 nice anvil units, i have 3 terror causers, i get 6DD for magic, i just need my scar-vet to do something that is more along the lines of helping in this group. i'm not worried about hydras because i have the blade of realities against his LD4. furnance and bell from the skaven is easily taken out with the blade of realities as well. any suggestions on what to do with the SV? i don't want to swap him out.
well. this list turned out to be pretty good. my Kroxigors were the #1 target of the tourney but at least it took away from my carno and 2 stegs. results: draw vs. skaven, massacre against an all chaos trolls list, and minor victory over tomb kings. the last match was up to me and the tomb king player in which case i needed a major victory to win. if i had remembered correctly, i captured a standard which would of made me come out the winner of the tourny but i totally forgot about it and so i ended up in 2nd. that sucks!! lol.. but it was fun.
