Howdy all! After much thought and consideration, I've come up with a temporary army list which I'd like to share with you guys. Here it is: Lords: - Slann Mage-Priest (4 Disciplines) = 425 Core: - 25x Saurus Warriors FC w/ Spears = 330 - 25x Saurus Warriors FC w/o Spears = 305 - 12x Skink Skirmishers = 84 Special: - 10x Temple Guard FC = 195 - 6x Terradon Riders = 180 - 10x Chameleon Skinks = 120 + 60 (Stalkers) Rare: - Ancient Stegadon w/ Skink Priest = 290 - 3x Salamander Hunting Packs = 225 Arcane Items: -Cupped Hands: 45 Total: 2259 ----------------------------------------------------- I would very much appreciate any feedback people are able to offer, as to how to improve the list by means of dropping certain things to make room for others and so on. I'm particularly unsure about the 4-Disciplines Slann, as each extra Discipline is an extra 50 pts. Also a bit unsure about the Terradons - perhaps get rid of 1-2. I made my Chameleon Skinks into Stalkers due to having 50 extra points to distribute at the very end. Am also wondering about whether should I make room for more Temple Guards, as they are quite a strong unit (if so, how many more). Thanks in advance!
Rules-y stuff: Pretty sure you can only have 1 stalker per unit of chameleon skinks. Also, about the skink priest: both he and his mount coutn toward the Hero category, not rare. It's also his cost (65) plus his mount (290) = 355. Personally, I wouldn't take so many focuses for my slann, especially in a bunker of only 10 Temple guard. Nevertheless, it's all preference, so if you've got a reason for each focus, go for it, experiment. But I think if you're going to have that many points on your slann, you definitely need to throw in some more TG.
heeey. yeah only one stalker per unit a unit can only have one champion. items count towards the character allowance, and so does mounts, so the engine is 290+65 an is a hero choice and has nothing to do with rare, and you dont have a seperate section for items its just slann, lore your usin has to be stated in the army list. which diciplines (not just how many) and which items that char has. and yes many more tg, or no tg at all take cupped hands and lore of death, if you dont do this you only need 3 diciplines focus of mystery, focused rumination and becalming cogitation, and then take lore of life. when taking tg you should have 16 (to little) 20 (ok) or 26 (goood) allways 6 wide to use their 2 ws 4 strength 5 attacks each 6 terradons should be split up into two units otherwise they will loose efficiency, this also goes for charms as you cant have 10 stalkers try 3x5 no stalkers. and take standard of dicipline on bsb slann!!! you should ALLWAYS use this combo when you have points enough in lord allowance! dont take spears and if you do take units of 30 6 wide as you want your warriors to put out max damage when taking spears. and you should not waste points on a priest just take a normal or ancient steg, as the slann will use all the magic dices anyways.
I cannot thank you guys enough for the feedback! In the light of what's been said, here's the new changes I've made: Lords: - Slann Mage-Priest: Lore of Life 3 Disciplines: . Focused Mastery; . The Focused Rumination; . (Either Becalming Cogitation or Higher State of Consciousness) Equipped Items: . Standard of Disciplines (15) . Cupped Hands (45) = 435 Heroes: - Skink Priest /w Ancient Stegadon = 355 Core: - 25x Saurus Warriors FC w/o Spears = 305 - 25x Saurus Warriors FC w/o Spears = 305 - 12x Skink Skirmishers = 84 Special: - 16x Temple Guard FC = 291 - 3x Terradon Riders = 90 - 5x Chameleon Skinks + Stalker = 66 - 5x Chameleon Skinks + Stalker = 66 Rare: - 3x Salamander Hunting Packs = 225 Total: 2256 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I tried to accommodate more Temple Guards, but the final count couldn't exceed 16 - had to get rid of 3 Terradons in order to accommodate them. Also, I did add the Standard of Discipline as it was suggested. That being said, I don't quite understand how effectively it enhances the unit: please enlighten me in that regard. I'm always open to any other kind of suggestions, so please don't hesitate and fire away!
Im sure as well a skink priest cannont take a regular ancient steg as a mount, it has to be the engine of the gods, which is more expensive
A few things I would do: Fix the ancient stegadon like what leokill said. Drop unit of Skirmishers to 10 instead of 12. Drop the stalker upgrades from the chameleons (they add extra costs to an already costly choice). Split Salamander squad into a unit of 1 and a unit of 2, give both of them an extra handler. If you are having trouble dropping points I would look into dropping the skink priest first, in my opinion if you are running a slann then EotG is too expensive. If you want to keep the skink priest then take out either the terradons or one of the salamanders. With any extra points you may have left I would suggest a BSB (if your slann is not already one) or a combat character like a scar vet. If you don't have enough to afford either of those two then just beef up your other units starting with saurus then going to your skinks.
Take becalming cogitation, Always! It is worth it. If you have the slann in a unit of TG, there is no need for higher state.
Pardon my utter noobness, but what's BSB? Quick edit: When I say Ancient Stegadon I mean EOTG in my list. It's a standard 65 pts for the Skink Priest + a 290 to have the EOTGs Stegadon as it's mount, hence 355 pts altogether - which I didn't get wrong.
Ah right, just when you said ancient XD Also a BSB is a Battle Standard Bearer, You pay 25 points for a hero in your army to then carry a Standard, this allows you to re roll all failed Leadership tests within 12" of the banner. You can also give him ANY banner you would like, you of course have to pay for this, and you do have to stay within the 25% spending on heros. Its really useful and in games any bigger than 1k its almost a must, although Cold Blooded makes us hard as nails!
