I'm starting Lizard! I came to this list: - Slann Mage Priest (BSB; Focus of Mistery;Rumminatio Cupped Hands of the Old Ones) - 395 Pts - Skink Priest (Lvl 2; Stegadon; Dispell Scroll; Plaque of Tepok) - 430 Pts - Skink Priest (Lvl 2; Stegadon; Dispell Scroll) - 415 Pt - Saurus Scar Veteran (Great Weapon; Light Armour; Charm of the Jaguar Warrior) - 121 Pts - 10 Skink Skirmishers - 70 Pts - 10 Skink Skirmishers - 70 Pts - 10 Saurus, Spear - 120Pts - 10 Saurus, Spear - 120Pts - 14 Temple Guard (FC ) - 259 Pts - 5 Cold one Rider, Mus,Stb,Champ, Huanchi's Blessed Totem 250 However, there are some issues that I'm not sure. 1) 10 strong spear Saurus units, no command group! Do they work? 2) No Magic weapon in the TG Champ. Is this a problem? 3) CoR Vs Kroxigors? CoR 4) No Terradons/Machine Hunters/Block Marching! 5) Music in a TG unit? The alternative would be drop saurus, and a 3rd Skink unit and 4 Terradons. This way I can add a War Banner to TG (or Slaan). Any comments are welcome!
Far too many points in characters. More than one stegadon is cheesy, especially 2 eotgs. This is based on normal tournament guidelines, not a spurious opinionated tirade. -WAR BANNER on temple guard standard. kill it last. untargettable +2 combat res (stacks to slann's +1). --Temple guard should be 16 strong MINIMUM and have FULL command. ---Saurus should be 18 strong with FULL command, ranked 6x3, spears. ----Points wasted on dispel scrolls. not all opponents will have magic and you already have healthy dispel dice. SO; -Take Slann, one Eotg (enough magic) and the Scar-vet. --A second skink priest is a waste of points, heavans magic terrible, could be half a unit of something thats always good. With focussed rumination you effectively have like 10 level of magic. Is Enough. ---Change size of saurus units and temple guard. ----Get some more skink skirmishers, as well as mabye a/some razordons (2 razordons max). -----Cold ones are subject to stupidity, hence unreliable. Also expensive. Consider dropping for skinks/razordons/saurus or even better, a unit of three (or four if you really end up loving them) TERRADONS, cos they are tactically brilliant. ------Give the Scar-vet a shield. Sometimes being tank is better than using G-Weapon. Or give him enchanted shield. They changed the rule in regards to shields and hand weapons. You can now get the +1 bonus from using a hand weapon and shield while using enchanted shield (woot) (he can get down to 1+ on foot). And to answer you questions; 1) 10 strong spear Saurus units, no command group! Do they work?-->Could and should be better. 2) No Magic weapon in the TG Champ. Is this a problem?-->No, its good. Points on troops wins games. I reckon Blood Statuette of Spite is kinda good though, but ONLY if you actually have no more troops you want to buy. 3) CoR Vs Kroxigors? CoR--> Neither, or kroxigors if you must. Read the Saurus Cav tactica post on this site. Its a fierce arguament and a productive read. 4) No Terradons/Machine Hunters/Block Marching!-->They are over-used, but good. Get some. 5) Music in a TG unit?-->Yes. I know this post was kinda direct and blunt, but its a army-list forum. There is no point for me to mention the numerous things that you did right (like giving your slann the best combo of disciplines and magic items). Businesslike is good. Enjoy your gaming experience regardless of how you wish to compose your armies. If you want to know why i've made any of the suggestions i've made (or disagree ;p), feel free to post below. Have fun.
i would say drop the cheap steg and just take a regular priest lvl 1 or 2 that will give you magic dominace over pretty much anything i would take those extra points from the steg and make your saurus bigger and give them standards unless you have a plan for your JSoD i would put him on a cold one and make that unit really scary with the old BBoC and maiming shield he becomes a real menace also the priest on foot can take the cloak of feathers so that he can spot for your slann better if needed and can just be a pain especially if you take one of the lores that has a close combat upgrage like fire or beast bear's anger on a priest makes him quite the war machine hunter with the cloak just some thoughts
I'm with the secondman on this one, very solid advice from my point of view. Your army does come across as character heavy (looks like over 1000 points). This can be an issue, especially since 2 of those characters are mounted on a terror causing monster and another one is a super powerful, nigh untouchable level 4 caster. While GW does promote a 'thunder lizard' list on their website, these lists are generally regarded as pretty cheesy when pitted up against an average and balanced army list from another army. I'd consider dropping an EotG for sure. If you have the want to keep 4 characters in the list, giving yourself another skink priest with a cloak of feathers will probably suit you just fine and allow for some interesting channeling effects for your Slann (provided you pick the right spells). I think you could run with a Slann and EotG and pretty much dominate most, if not all armies in the magic phase just fine. In terms of Kroxigors vs. COC, it really is apples and oranges. Neither of them are superstar units in this particular, but both still retain some hitting power. I am actually fond of both of them.
