Hey Lustria! I just joined and this will be my first post. I've been out of the Lizardmen loop for a while and I'm trying to get back in. Heck, I'm a senior in college and the last time I played Lizardmen was back in middle school...

Right now I have a battle force and a box of skinks at home only partially painted and I'm looking to expand when I get the chance. Below I have a list which uses the Slann's awesome magic powers to destroy units from afar while the rest of my units move up the flanks and either destroy the enemy's back field or support the "core" of saurus and temple guard. Let me know how it looks and I'm more than willing to make changes to this list.

    Burning Blade of Chotec

    12 Skink Skirmishers

    11 Skink Skirmishers

    Special
    5 Cold One Cavalry
    Huanchi's Blessed Totem

    3 Terradon Rider

    3 Terradon Rider

    Rare
    1 Salamander Hunting Pack
    Extra Handler

    1 Salamander Hunting Pack
    Extra Handler

    Total Roster Cost: 2247

I've always loved the dinosaurs in our Army book and boy do we get some sweet special and rare choices! I really like the idea of a Carnosaur list and will probably make a list which can swap out the Slann and for an Oldblood pretty quickly. I would like to have a list which could be used in a tournament but I'd hate to get slammed for comp or get called "cheesy."

    Main Problems
    1) Slann AND a EotG?!? I'm worried this won't go over well...

    2) Scar-vet with the cold one riders. Does this unit work well for anyone else or is stupidity too variable?

    3) My list is heavy in special/rare/hero choices... probably bad for comp huh?

    Thoughts?

Hey man, welcome to the site!
That's a pretty good list you've got there. It should do alright.
I wouldn't worry too much about the Slann + EOTG combo. You'll have a heck of a magic phase, which a lot of people aren't going to like, but as long as you don't add another Engine, you should be fine. It flies at my LGS, anyways.
As for the Scar-Vet, I wouldn't worry about Stupidity too much. You're Ld 8 and Cold-Blooded, after all.
As for comp, it does depend on what system you're going by, but I think you're right in that you're not exactly winning in that catergory.
Anyways, hope to see you around on the forum!

Yeah... I do have 4 special units (CoR, 2x Terradons and TG) which might be excessive... It's just those are all the cool units you know?

How do skink cohorts work? It seems like a kroxigor in a group of 10-15 would good against lower leadership armies. I really like the way the look and work but it seems like people are having mixed results. If you could get them into combat without loosing too many models you could potentially swing the CR hugely in your favor by getting a flank charge. I would consider putting theme in, especially at lower point levels.

Looking good. I would however drop 1 unit of terradons. With all the magic your going to pump out, you can get rid of fast cavalry, warmachines and skirmishers easy enough. You wont be needing a second unit terries for it. Buy a 6th cold one for it, or buy some chameleons, or even increase the units salamanders and/or razardons.

    Good luck with it. :p

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, 2 units of terradons might be a bit much even though I really like the models. Maybe I'll take out one unit, make the other a group of 4 and see if I can fit in some chameleon skinks or something. I have a sixth CoR (the scar-vet).

I'll see what I can do.

I can look at units all day but how are my magic item set ups? Are there any better combos I could be using?

No no no the list is very nice, extremely similar to my 2k list planned. KEEP the two sets of terradons, they are just too good. By far the most flexible troop in the army. I prefer skirmishers to ranked skinks as they are better redirectors and large target hunters, I even have 4 units of skirmishers planned, not two (on top of two sets of terradons and a salamander).
