Comments and suggestions are welcome! Cheers, Aranigej
This is almost like my tournament list =D!! It is a great list BUT that spear-a-don should be upgraded to a A.steggie. that extra strength is gonna be worth it. And your already inverting a lot of points in it so why not!! Maybe take out a skink unit and that'll free up a extra 30 points on top of paying for the asteg. Another magic item or dispel scroll maybe? And another note with that big guy just make sure you play smart with him. Hes alot of points and can be made quite ineffective thanks to character hunters and being charged =[. But either way great list, its alot of fun and if you play it right will do you great!
Thanks a lot for the reply! As regards the spear-a-don, tournament rules dictate that I can only have one ancient steg, hence the reason for it being of the normal variety As regards the number of magic items... I am currently maxed out on items as is and can't invest in more... what i can do though, is exchange a scroll for the diadem on the lv1. Also, any ideas as to how and where the lv1 should be deployed? thanks, Aranigej
The caddy should be deployed: -Alone and hiding. Preferably in woods. But behind terrain works ok (just watch out for hunters). -In a saurus spears group. Look below for more comments. This is a tad risky, as your saurii will move up, and your priest wants to stay back. However, if you move him out a turn before you think you're getting in combat; he's still safe. Don't be too scared to flee with him in order to protect him. -In a skirmisher squad. Move the unit up to a terrain piece up ahead. Or use this unit of skirmishers more conservatively, and simply provide 'Look out, sir!' models. I'd go with that order too. On saurii+priest and saurii in general; Drop the champions if you won't run the priest in the saurii. Otherwise, keep them. Champions are a lot of points and don't add much beside an extra S4 attack (ooooooh....) and the challenges. If you are charged by something you really want to challenge; your in trouble most of the time anyway. I'd say drop him and add another saurus spear, if nothing else. Otherwise, list looks good; I just miss my favorite Salamander.... Be aware of your saurus spears not lagging behind. Carny M7, Steggie M6, terradons fly, skinks M6+skirmish... Saurus; not so much. But if played right, it's effective. It's fun at all times! Good luck and Have fun! The Hunted
Local tourny using ETC rules: http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=71232 Very tough army limitations, and playing a slann army is a bit of a waste at this point due to the max number of 9 power dice available every turn.
I like you list alot. I think it looks very successful. I am going to a locall club challenge/ Tourney that have the same rules. I see that our lists our very close to the same. How was your diployement going to look?
Deployment depends greatly on what the opponent does, but the general idea is to have the saurus units in the centre, the steg with warspear on one flank, the carno and engine on the other. Terradons and skinks where needed. I had a practice game against vampire counts a couple of days ago which was not going so well (we had to stop at turn 3). The wraiths + banshee are a real pain in the backside and they almost took down the engine in turn 2. Blood knights charged one of my saurus units and reduced them to pulp. Only success I had up to that point was keeping the dragon at bay with the skinks and terradons, but I couldn't even bring it down since every turn he was regaining 2-3 wounds. I am going to try another similar army without the saurus and with a couple of cold one units instead. I might also replace the skink chief on steg with one on a terradon... I'll draw up a decent list when I have the time and post it for your comments
Sorry for reviving the topic but... that's wierd, in the link you posted they state I might be missing something but it looks as if it's possible to get that second ancient The-Ironfoot
That looks like a very effective list that can put out a lot of hurt but the only thing is if you are playing in a tournament that has a points system based on sportsmanship, people dont take kindly to a carnosaur and two stegadons so they will cut you points. It really sucks but is true unfortunately. You can just get your satisfaction when you wipe the floor with them! Oh and you can get one more skink in the list if you wanted to...
Ironfoot, you missed the part where it states that each stegadon also counts as the normal choice (special for normal and rare for ancient) and also the phrase with "rare choices may not be repeated". Btw I like you list. Maybe the carno really is the way to go with ETC right now. Just really miss the salamander, but will see if I can fit it into my own list!
