I have a tournament coming up on the 20th. This is a test list that I will be playing against a skaven army Friday. Any CC will be greatly appreciated. Lord Slann Mage priest BSB (war banner) Cupped Hands Becalming Cogitation (never leave home without it) Focus of Mystery The Focused Rumination Lore of Light Heroes Scar vet Glittering Scales Skink Priest lvl 1 Forbidden rod Core Skink cohort x19 full command skink cohort x20 full command Saurus warriors x 28 full command and HW/shield Special Temple Guard x 20 Full command Chameleon skink 2 units of 5 Rare Ancient Stegadon Salamander x 2 with extra handler Salamander x1 with extra handler This list comes out exactly at 2250. The idea is to keep the saurus and the TG buffed with the higher castings on Brionna's time warp and Speed of Light. The skink cohorts hopefully will slow down anything coming at the stronger units and allow my TG or saurus to get into position. The salamanders will be used on each flank with the stegadon on the same side as the the single salamander unit. The Stegadon will be close enough to the TG unit to benefit from at least one casting of Brionna's time warp (hoepfully). I am hoping that whichever opponent I face (in the tournament) will have a hard time choosing which target to shoot at (between the salamanders and stegadon). Thanks for looking.
Looks like a pretty solid list. I'd get at least one unit of skink skirmishers instead of 2 units of skink cohorts. Double tap stand and shoot is devastating and quite frankly, besides giving extra banners to the ennemy, skinks cohort are pretty weak in combat so even their static combat res won't really help them. Skink skirmishers are harder to shoot, are more mobile and less likely to give free VPs to the ennemy.
Good solid list although I think that the skink cohorts need to be bigger otherwise they won't even provide a speedbump fo a decent enemy unit. Maybe put a razordon in to the list so as to hold a flank as nobody wants to charge a razordon no matter how many wounds they have .
Yeah. Personally I have gone off combat characters in this edition. Characters that don't have something buffing your army (like granting the unit hatred or something or being the BSB) are inefficient. You could get 10 more Saurus instead of this guy. Again, lots of points invested for not much gain. Though I can see the "right, this turn everything is in combat and I need the dice to bomb Timewarp and Speed of Light right now". Hmm. Skinks just don't ever win attrition wars, they can't. WS2 and T2... They are even weaker and more expensive than skaven slaves so you shouldn't try to shoe them into that role. Instead you could take 21 more Saurus. Very large unit. How wide are you deploying? I don't like more than 4 ranks on such expensive infantry. You still won't have enough ranks to make cheaper infantry lose steadfast no matter how many you take. Banner of Eternal Flame? Its a great thing to throw on for a few points that instantly gives you the edge on Abominations and Hydras. Yeah. In a Light list? Better off with more Saurus IMO. Or you could work in some skink skirmishers/Terradons.
