Ill be playing a lot of Vamps, HE(Magic Heavy and Shooting Heavy), and WoC. Lords and Heroes Slaan Mage w/ Focused Rumination, Becalming Cogitation and plaque of Topek - 340 Skink Priest Level 2 on Ancient Stegadon w/ Engine of the Gods - 390 Skink Chief on Ancient Stegadon w/ Spear of the Stegadon - 380 Core 18 Saurus with Full Command - 228 24 Skinks w/ 3 Kroxigors - 285 10 Skink Skirmishers - 70 10 Skink Skirmishers - 70 Special 18 Temple Guard w/ Full Command and War Banner - 248 5 Chameleon Skinks - 60 5 Cold One Cavalry - 210 I think its relatively strong against most lists. Cogitation gives me good magic defense. Slaan EotG and Skink Priest will gimme some good Magic Offense. I fair pretty well when it comes to CC. I got the meat shields in front of my saurus or wherever i desire really. The Stegadons will get pounded by ranged but not too hard, my 5+ ward save will help, T6 will help and chameleon skinks should help too, not including the capability of my slaan mage dropping some RBT's. The TG unit will defintely hold its on in combat and the Cold one Cavalry are going to be delicious for throwing some flanks. Oh and the Skinks w/ Kroxigors will be good for holdin the frot line too. If you see flaws in my cockiness please tell me, i tend to miss a lot of things. all your advice will be taken in.
I show the list over by 31 points (total 2281). easily remedied with taking out 2 TG. id also take out 4 skinks and give those Saurus spears. 24 attacks are better than 12
Where would you take out skinks? They're vital to having the 3 Krox, and the other units are minimal. I'm starting a similar list, actually, only I use Diadem of Power and Plaque of Protection on Slann, and I take another Engine of the Gods instead of the Chief. I also have one more priest on foot who is a "caddy" for all intents and purposes, but he uses the cube of darkness (i find it rare that I use scrolls, mostly dispel dice pool is good enough).
ya i tested the list out against a WoC army. I got a draw. Im thinking about dropping the Chief and replacing him with a priest and EotG. Also that huge unit is way too much. I might drop the unit and add just Kroxigors or just drop all the models and possibly add more saurus.
I would drop your skink/krox unit, give your saurus spears, throw in another 10 skink skirmishers and lots of artillery: Sallys/Razors
Ya thats similar to what i did. I changed the Ancient stegadon with chief to one with a priest and EotG. I gave my saurus spears and added another unit of skink skirmishers, but instead of the razors/sally's i added 2 scrolls a cube of darkness bane head on the slaan, and a rod of the storm on a skink priest. I'm playing a HEAVY!!! magic HE army tomorrow so i figure i could use the two scrolls and if the cube will help especially if i can skip his Archmage with Book of Hoeth. Really as long as i can get my magic off I should be able to win. I'm going to Bane head his Archmage and hopefully drop it by turn 2 or 3. Meanwhile hopefully getting Comet of Casandora on one of the skinks, and making it rain on the RBT's. If i drop the mages, he will have no magic defense and ill hopefully be able to drop SM's and PG left and right wit Magic, flanks, and stegadons.
And also quick question here, its a very small detail, but what do you think about dropping the Rod of the Storm and adding a Cold one knight. making it 6 Cold ones w/ FC (I gave them FC when the Kroxi unit dropped. i figured itd be good against a no cavalry HE army. Gives them a great flank combat res.) OR would you guys rather see me keep the Rod since Power level 6 Uranons thunder bolt is some damn good crap
your temple guards should cost 348, not 248 points so you know, unless the number you supplied was a typo, youve gone over your limit a bit here. Id suspect you would find spears on your sauruses usefull against eventual swordmasters. Very much worth the points now. Seems good though, hopefully the temple guard points where just a typo and everything should be off rolling for you.
