After taking a slow and steady decline on my power list after the atrocity that was 'Ard Boyz (in which I feel I made many people quit the hobby, but also myself unfortunately) and getting continual 0 composition I realized there has to be a better way to compete at tournaments. I spoke with some of my fellow members at the So Cal GW League and other regulars who I play with regularly to find out what they feel causes them to ding LM players on composition. I was surprised at some of the answers, but I noticed that a lot of the hate was the bark opposed to bite. Not all of it of course, but a lot. So with this in mind I created a list with a friend that is meant to do well at soft score heavy tournaments.

    Lizardmen Combat 2250-

    Lord- 465

Oldblood- Carnosaur, Light Armour, Charmed Shield, Potion of Speed, Sword of Bloodshed, Talisman of Endurance

    Heroes- 378

Scar-Vet- BSB, Armour of Destiny, Shield

Skink Priest- Diadem of Power, Curse-Charm of Tepok

Skink Priest- Cube of Darkness, Iron Curse icon

    Core- 805

    30x Saurus Warriors FC

    30x Saurus Warriors FC- Spears

    11x Skink Skinks

    Special- 96

    8x Chameleon Skinks

    Rare- 505

    2x Salamanders

    1x Razordon- AH

    1x Ancient Stegadon

    Total: 2249

Given, no Slann is already pushing for better composition, but surprisingly people hate Old Bloods on Carnosaurs as well. We all know they aren't worth their points and aren't all around killers like a Bloodthirster, but you can maximize their usefulness by taking advantage of cover and throwing him at stuff that he can abuse with his 8 attacks, stomps etc.

People hate Chameleon skinks so I only took 1 unit. I could use 120pts of chameleons to suicide a Rock Lobba and people still cry about them no matter how you explain the point costs to them. When you kill a bolt thrower or Organ gun then don't expect the crying to end. What I did expect and was more than true is that people commented on me taking a Razordon before the game began about how I should already get full comp. I held them to their word haha.

Taking different kinds of Saurus units also shows your opponents that you don't feel one way or another about 1 build being more powerful than the other, but that they do have different uses (I'd rather throw my HW/Shields at a Greater Daemon than my spears for instance).

The Ancient Stegadon is their to make your opponents fire at other things than your Carnosaur, works well most of the time, especially if you hide your Carnosaur in cover. 4d6 poision hits isn't tp shabbyt either now that we can stand and shoot with it. And they hold up enemies for days in combat and always make their points back if your play them well.

I've gotten 6 massacres, 2 Majors, and 1 minor victory with this list. Two of the tournaments used 40k similar Scenarios and the other was a pitched battle only tourney. All, but 1 were 40% soft scores, the other was 90% battke with a thumbs up/down system. All in all, this list works extremely well while still not abusing our Army Book. Next month I will run the circuit with a 350 points Slann so I will post about that later on.

Try this one out. Don't let your crazy gaming group make you limit your options for list building.

I like the list a lot! It does look like you'd have trouble with dwarves, have you thought about adding a group of terradons, or just a skink chief on one to help remove those cannons? Along the same lines what about using an eotg instead of ancient, the ward could help keep himself and the Oldblood alive.

I've been playing on so cal for a bit, what's the so cal GW league? Any shops in the area you recommend?

I'd like to know how well you fair on magical protection against other armies? I am making a list fairly similar and with no Slann so I am interested in your enemies Magic Phase ;)
