I have a friend who plays daemons and has been challenging me alot lately. Recently, we had a battle of 2250 a side. I tried an odd list against him, a bit heavy in heroes: one group of skink skirmishers, two ranks of saurus, temple guard with Slaan, EotG. Chakax was with the TempleGuard and there was another hero with one rank of Saurus.
My opponent took a unit of pink horrors, two units of bloodletters, skull taker, a herald of Tzeentch, the lord of change, a unit of bloodcrushers, some hounds, and nurglings.

Obviously I was rediculously outnumbered, but things went rather well. My skink priest took out a bloodcrusher with Uranon's bolt, then the bloodcrushers failed a charge and were taken by saurus. I only lost one saurus in that fight. He tried to keep his spellcasters away from me, to avoid the Slaan's ability to nuetralize sixes, but he did line his lord of change up wth my skinks; they did four wounds with blowpipes! He took a banner that magic blocked my slaan for the most part (I took from fire) but I picked off some bloodletters. He cast a bolt of change at my saurus, but I had snuck the shield of the mirror pool in with the hero and bounced it back, lucky for him, not one shot wounded his lord of change. My stegadon and EotG got tied up with his changling, such an annoying peice, but the challenge lasted three turns. Meanwhile, I just whittled away things with burning allignment.

At the end of the battle I had lost all of the EotG's crew, but not the stegadon, three Saurus, four temple guard, and a handful of skinks. All that stood of the demons was his herald and his hounds. An outright massacre.

I don't think I will be taking Chakax though. He is good, but not that good for his price. I may also take less Temple Guard n exchange for more skinks. Let me know what you think.

Difficult to judge out of this report.. A saying goes "don't change a winning team" and a massacre is indeed such a case. When you're playing friendly matches and know which army you're facing, tweak your army to suit your needs. E.c Don't use heroes armed with blade of revered tzunki vs deamons.

As for chacax I could agree with you, but then again: Deamons of Chaos some nasty heroes as Skulltaker. Besides, the fact that when challenging ordinary champions, he is likely to overkill and possibly make the deamons lose even more units due to their demonic instability.

Conclusion: try another game with exactly the same army before summing up how you eventually would change your army.

Glad to see you did well against the Daemons! That Shield was a brilliant idea at holding off the Lord of Change, if even for a moment.

Played the Daemon player again. I switched up the list, taking Chakax out for more skinks. Another win by Massacre. Skulltaker fell to magic and instability, and a saurus scar vet killed the Lord of Change in a Challenge; but that is not something I would count on every time for sure. Other than that, it is just a matter of getting rid of that annoying banner that limits magic and my Slann is then home free. Also, I destroyed and entire unit of bloodletters with skinks. He did kill a scar vet with a killing blow, though, and he toppled the EotG in a challenge (still dislike how the priest must accept), but overall a good victory.

Yeah, but wth weapon skill 3, he usually fails in combat against heroes. Sigh.

True... An EoTG should probably stay away from enemy heroes as the chief would be a very juicy target indeed...
