Morning all, The missus surprised me with two models I'd shown her on the GW website - The Skink Priest with Feathers and a Skink on a Cold One! They arrived over the weekend and I thought I'd have a go at putting them to use in decent list. Characters: Slann Mage Priest -BSB -Higher State of Consiousness -Focused Rumination -Focus of Mystery -Becalming Cognitation -Cupped Hands -Dispel Scroll -Bane Head Lv 2 Skink Priest -Cloak of Feathers -Rod of the Storm Lv 2 Skink Priest -Horned One -Plaque of Tepok Core: 18 Saurus Warriors -Standard Bearer and Musician -Spears and Shields 18 Saurus Warriors -Standard Bearer and Musician -Spears and Shields 11 Skink Skirmishers 11 Skink Skirmishers 11 Skink Skirmishers Special: Stegadon 5 COC - (Priest on Horned One Here) -Standard Bearer -Warbanner 3 Terradon Riders 3 Terradon Riders Rare: Salamander -Extra Handler Total Points: 2244pts PD: 10 + 1 Bound Item DD: 6 + 1 Dispel Scroll So what do you think? Any room for improvements? What do you think of the character setup? Thanks for any and all help!
I would run him solo in the centre between my 2 Saurus blocks. He can move about more freely and since only magic or magical attacks hurt him he 'should' hopefully be safe enough whilst channelling through the 2 mobile priests.
i used to, and still often do run a slann like that (or at list similar), i found it works quite well, but make extremley sure you don't get charged - although most people cant hurt you, you cant hurt them in CC either, and a lot of spells cannot be cast while in CC. so you'll just get stuck there, unless you can pull another of your units in to save the slann, and a load of your army is neutralised. a lso be extremley wary depending on opponent, something like even a relatively cheappy flyer like a griffon, if it charges in is likely to beat you on combat resolution, and then you're outnumbered by a fear causer.... oh dear.... and i dont even want to suggest what will happen if its something nastier like a dragon with a pimped out chaos lord on top! as for the list, my chief concerns are: a solo stegadon seems odd considering they can be so much better with a character on top, though i guess the title of the list tells me you dont want that are you sure about putting the priest with the CoC? they are destined for combat, and the priest looks awful squishy there... again with the mounted priest, why the plaque of tepok? is there a particular spell you're after? i mean he isnt going to be casting much with his 2 PD (i assume you'd be wanting to use the pool dice to further boost the slann's free dice ability) are you using this as an all-comers list, or do you have a specific opponent in mind? particularly if it's the latter, i would be tempted to get the blood statuette in the list if you're facing a low T army
