8th Ed. 2400 Army List

    Hi Guys. Been I while since I used my Lizards as i've been having too much fun with hoards of Savage Orc Big-uns and Mangler Squigs but its time to dust them off.

    I used to play 2K armies across the board but the gaming group I play with now uses 2.4K as standard. With the 400 extra points there are a number of different options so I thought i'd post what i'd come up with and my reasoning and see if anyone had any comments.

    Slann, Lore of Light, Rumination, Divine Plaque of Protection and Plaque of Tepok - BSB.
    Old-Blood, Cold One, Blade of Realities, Charmed Shield. Goes with the Saurus Cav to Hunt monstrous Cav and Inf.

    Scar-Vet, LA, Shield, Dragonhelm, Burning Blade of Chotek, The Other Tricksters Shard. Goes with the Saurus Hoard to give them some extra punch and flaming attacks.
    L1 Skink Priest, Cloak of Feathers and Dispel Scroll.

    39 Saurus Warriors HW & S Full Command.
    2 x 10 Skirmishers with Braves and Blowpipes

    20 Temple Guard, Standard and Musician, Standard of Discipline.
    2 x 5 Chameleon Skinks
    6 Saurus Cav, Standard Bearer, Gleaming Pennant.

    2 Sally Hunting Packs
    1 Sally Hunting Pack

    Normal opponents are Empire, Skaven, Deamons, Wood Elves, WoC and Brettonians so with a number of armies that can take cannons i'm dubious about spending the points on monsters, otherwise I would have had an Engine in here.

    Thoughts?

    idk i think an engine is still good even with all the cannons on them, just because chamos will do their job while you still get the 5+ ward. other than that useless bit of info id have to say its a very interesting list, but that blade of realities is very costly. id ditch the old blood or have him switch with the scar vet, give the scar-vet the ogre blade, he gets +2 to his strength making him a strength 7 at 35 less points which can very easily go somewhere else. and at strength 7 i doubt you should have much trouble inflicting wounds on any monsters.

    another thing is id try and fit another sally in that group of 1, will make your army very effective on each flank or bring that much more fire power to the middle.

    why give the slann the plaque of tepok? if it were me ditching the old blood for just another scarvet would be a must here and just make him a lore master.

    other than those things that i would personally change id have to say that this list is very solid. i like a lot of the combos in it

    The reason that i'm shelling out all those points on the Old-Blood with the Blade of Realities is that in most of the armies that I face regularly there is at least one unit that my opponents take every time which is incredibly difficult to shift. For Example, Steam Tank, Demon Prince, Greater Demon. In all of these cases they are never more than LD9 (LD7 for the steam tank) which means if I can get a Light buffed Old-blood hitting them with the blade I have a decent chance of forcing enough unmodified LD tests to kill whatever it is in one go. A S7 Scar vet wouldn't allow me to do this as against the steam tank he's still only gonna get me 4 wounds Max and then he's likely to get ground into the dirt the following turn and against the demon prince or Greater Demon I can't take the tricksters shard to help me get through the ward save either and i'm much less likely to hurt them.

    If there isn't that sort of unit available to throw The Old-Blood at he and the Saurus Cav can still do a great job going after Monstrous Infantry and Monstrous Cav as most of them are LD 7 or 8 which gives me a chance of murdering a unit in one charge.

    I'd love to get a 2nd sally into that single unit but don't know where i'm getting the points from other than downgrading the Old-blood, Which I might do after i've run him a few times and got a feel for how effective he actually is.

    Looking at Lore of Light I can't see why you cant get a really solid range of spells with the Plaque. Whats the point in spending 35 more points to get 2 additional spells which are likely to be the ones that are less useful against whatever army your facing as with 5 dice the Slann still effectively gets to tailor the majority of his spell choice.
