First, let me link to the tactics thread that I wrote that inspired this list. http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/book-of-ashur-deliberations-slann.13486/ TL;DR - Book of Ashur lets you two dice a wandering deliberation slann, quantity over quality, and you will never miscast and blow the temple guard up Slann - 520 Becalming Cogitation, Harrowing Scrutiny, Wandering Deliberations, Book of Ashur, Obsidian Amulet, BSB, Flaming Banner Heroes - 505 Skink Priest #1 - Heavens, Forbidden Rod Skink Priest #2 - Beasts, Lvl 2, Dispel Scroll ScarVet #1 - Shield, Light Armor, Stegadon Helm, Warrior Bane, Potion of Speed ScarVet #2 - Shield, Light Armor, Helm of Discord, Sword of Striking, Ironcurse Core - 620 30 Saurus Spears, FC 10 Cohort 10 Javelins 10 Blowpipes 10 Blowpipes Special - 755 3 Terradons 3 Terradons Bastiladon, Solar Engine 25 Temple Guard, FC, Lichbone Pennant Rare - 0 Total - 2400 So the list is a death star with redirection, a strong magic phase, but is small. The saurus are in 6x5 blocks and both scar vets are with the slann. The stegadon helm vet takes the challenges and the other guy grinds active combat res and risks making the enemy character 0A. The warrior bane / potion of speed is a gimmick where if he gets lucky I can peel off an attack from a blender lord, chaos lord. or elf in a challenge - for 10 pts it could save the life of another model. Also S6 impact hits on the charge w/ Wyssan. I took terror because I need the deathstar to be reliable and with Iceshard and Spirit Leech you can threaten to kill the BSB and lower the Ld of something, which also works with the helm. Bastiladon is there to guard the open flank, buff I, and fire another MM. The forbidden rod priest is a caddy to insure a large power dice pool on the turn I need it most, and then I 2-dice everything - I'm looking for Harmonic Convergence or iceshard. The beast priest is a scroll caddy and I'm hoping for Pann's Pelt, Savage Beast, or Curse of Anraheir. Thoughts? That TG unit is at best S5/T5 4+/5++ mr(3) terror and their opponent is -1 hit -1ld -d3 WS/I.
Cool ideas! I too like the book of Ashur/WD combo, I think it can work out for you =) PS: magic resistance doesn't stack! You always count the highest available MR, not the combined ;_;
Thanks for that, I will have to review the rulebook. Lot of good cheap banners available. Mr(2) won't be as impressive, especially with earthblood, but I don't like casting that spell out of combat. I demo'd this list against a friends new WoC army. He is green as grass and let me double flee his block the entire game (good lesson for him) with the terradons, but the list performed very well. I had two failed casts out of a very windy magic game for me, zero miscasts, and enough backup mages and the venusaur to pick up the slack when the slann wiffed. Of note, book of Ashur made his level four lose concentration TWICE. He tied my roll but of course I was "level 5". Other random thoughts... I have to watch for test or dies - he tried to cast final transmutation four times but becalming did well. The bastiladon killed a vortex beast in melee - I won't underestimate the s10hit anymore. He had me dead to rights but that +1 to hit s10 is a real equalizer.
