Hey guys, I would really like to use this mini as an oldblood ready to chop someone down. http://www.avatars-of-war.com/eng/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=756 Here is the list: Lords (596; max. 600) -Slann Mage-Priest, General, Focus of Mystery, Harmonic Convergence, Channeling staff -Saurus Oldblood, Armour of Destiny, Great Weapon, Potion of Strength Heroes (360; max. 600) -Skink Priest, level 1 Wizard (Beasts), Dispel Scroll -Skink Priest, level 1 Wizard (Beasts), Cube of Darkness -Saurus Scar-Veteran, BSB, Light Armour, Great Weapon, Cold one, Dawnstone, Dragonhelm, Ironcurse Icon Core (625;min. 600) -35 Saurus Warriors, spears, full command -10 Skink Skirmishers, blowpipes -10 Skink skirmishers, javelins & shields -10 Skink skirmishers, javelins & shields Special (506; max. 1200) -Bastiladon, Solar Engine -6 Chameleon Skinks -6 Chameleon Skinks -5 Cold one Cavalry, spears, full command Rare (310; Max. 600) -Ancient Stegadon, Unstoppable Stampede, Sharpened Horns, Engine of the Gods Total: 2397 Idea of the list: -Oldblood in the saurus block; If something nasty charges the saurus he can pop a potion for strength 10 attacks (ouch?). Other than that, his armour save is kinda low (2+) but he got a nice wardsave (4+). I don't think he needs a dragonbane gem (35 saurus warriors means a high chance of look-out-sir incase of lore of metal). If he does end up receiving 1 or 2 wounds, the Slann can heal him with Apotheosis. I know the oldblood would be more effective on a cold one, but this reduces the points for my slann. -Slann. I think harmonic convergence + channeling staff is worth a try. I also believe that lore of High magic + the channeling stuff kinda asks for Focus of Mystery...So I intend on trying that. I really want to guarantee apotheosis for the oldblood and walk between worlds so the slann can stay safe. I couldn't find enough points to make the slann BSB within this list.. -Saurus warriors with spears, backed up by EoTG wardsave. Combined with the oldblood these guys should hold out for a while. -Scar-vet BSB leads a strike force of cold one cavalry. The BSB is actually quite fortunate since it reduces problems with stupidity. -Double scroll caddy with lore of beasts. The engine should make them somewhat useful (especially if they cast wildform on stegs/cavalry etc.) -Skink skirmishers to protect casters / re-direct enemies / be annoying. -Chameleon skinks... I never leave without those -Bastiladon. Never tried it. The initiative aura should help my saurus in combat and make them slightly less vulnerable against pit of shades / purple sun. The bound spell sounds like good fun against monsters (one of my brothers plays Dark Elves.... and he always takes a War Hydra). My concerns with the list: -Slann is not BSB -Should I take Focus of mystery? Maybe a different lore so I can take BSB? I haven't played any games with the new book but I believe lore of high magic is quite good. -Is the EOTG a waste of points for this list? I mainly took it for the ward save. I'm afraid most of my dice will be used by the slann, so maybe its not needed? I only have spear equipped saurus warriors so thats why I try to auto include the engine -I feel like I am missing salamander(s) in this list. I have 2 packs. Focus of mystery slann means that if the slann is safe a well placed walk between worlds could cause quite some damage. Your criticism and tips are welcome
if you can protect your scar vet he'll be a good BSB, don't worry high magic is VERY good, with loremaster is even better yes, i think it's a waste of points. The 6+ ward is not so good, and you will never throw any dice to the bound spell when you have a slann, 2 priests and a bastiladon if you don't take the stega with the engine you can have some sallyes u.u
You mean drop the engine, or drop the stegadon entirely? If I drop the engine and find a few more points I could take 1 salamander ( I hope) Or if I drop the stegadon entirely I could take 1 or 2 salamanders and beef up my cold one unit?
