I am going to enter a tournament with 2400 points Lizardmen. This is my list. I was some time since I last played. I would kindly ask for your opinions. Oldblood on Carnosaur - Great Weapon - Dragon Helm - Dawn Stone - Carnosaur Pendant BSB Scar-Veteran on Cold One - Glittering Scales - Burning Blade of Chotec - Luckstone Lv. 1 Skink Priest - Diadem of Power - Dragonbane Gem (Had 5 points left) Saurus Warriors 20 * 3, full command with spears. 60 Saurus should do an adequate job of holding my battle-line. Skink Skirmishers 13 * 3 + 1, blowpipes. 40 skinks to pepper targets with poisonous darts. Stegadons * 2 Salamanders * 2 The strategy is that my 3 unit 20 strong Saurus can take quite the beating, and my BSB keeps them from fleeing anywhere. My three monster pets serve to crush held-up enemies underneath their feet, or simply crush other monsters of the same size (gosh, I love the Carnosaur). The Priest's only purpose is to make sure I suffer as little magical damage as possible, while my skinks and salamanders are to make sure enemy harrassors are thouroughly harrassed. Skinks can also possibly attempt taking out War Machines, monsters and such while salamanders can lob their beautiful fires into tight enemy formations and see them blaze around. I avoid taking Slann because I do not want to be entirely dependant on the whims of the Winds of Magic to be able to pull off my strategies. I can crush the enemy magicians soon enough when I get close to them. That's about that. What do you guys think?
Reconsider the magic items of the scar veteran, a bit over 50 points. The oldblood is quite defenseless. Give him ward 4+, i would suggest armor of destiny+dawnstone+carnosaur pendant+great weapon.
Eh? Glittering Scales for 25 points, Burning Blade of Chotec for 20 points, Luckstone for 5 points... ... That, eh, becomes 50 points, I just double-checked each value. Am I incorrect somehow...? So my Oldblood is defenseless at rerollable 1+ Armor Save. I can see you never leaving your home without that armor. Still, 4+ Ward Save is considerable. I might consider what I could drop for those extra 30 points of protection. Thank you. 2 units of 30... list me the advantages of doing so. I like to be able to split them up as necessary, and giant blocks of 30 have a tendancy of being bulkier to a degree which makes them almost unusable as they become swarmed by the smaller units of other races. Three blocks allow me to protect myself in three directions rather than two. Not to mention, they'll be loads of point beasts, meaning I'll have to protect each one to the death. I usually favor having the alternative of being able to sacrifice a unit or two for the greater good. Feel free to counter-argue. Oldblood on Carnosaur - Great Weapon - Armour of Destiny - Dawn Stone - Carnosaur Pendant BSB Scar-Veteran on Cold One - Glittering Scales - Burning Blade of Chotec - Luckstone Lv. 1 Skink Priest - Diadem of Power - Dragonbane Gem (Had 5 points left) Saurus Warriors 20 * 3, Standard and Musician with spears. Skink Skirmishers 13 * 3, blowpipes. Stegadons * 2 Salamanders * 2 Like that, I stripped the Saurus units of their champions to afford the Armour of Destiny... Does my Oldblood look better protected now?
Fun looking list. I hope you put up battle reports. I personally haven't been able to figure out how to use Carnosaurs effectively
Mostly in agreeance with those above. I'd consider taking the points from the Skirmishers instead of the Saurus. Either that or drop some spears. Pretty good army though. Should give most people some trouble.
