8th Ed. 2400 pt league List

    This is the current list I am playing for a friendly League at our local Store.
    We are playing under 50% on Lords & 50% on Heroes to allow some players to reach the 2400 size army.
    Also End Times stuff was allowed but none of us got any book/models so only new % on Lords and Heroes.

    The armies in the league are:
    O&G; VC; Bretonnia; Skaven; WoC; Lizardmen.

    So I had to play an All Comers list which could do well against any, also I wanted to play some monster in order to promote Fantasy. So here is the list, a mix of competitive / all comers / fancy stuff.

    Lords

    General BSB Slann Mage Priest
    - Focus of Mistery;Harmonic Convergence; Reservoir of Eldritch Energy; Soul of Stone; Channelling Staff; Banner of Eternal Flame.
    Note: A Bloated Toad and my first attemp on magic based army. HM lore allow me to react against any opponent I face. For the 2 games I have already played I have magic phase dominance.

    Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur
    - Swiftstride ; Bloodroar
    - Armour of Destiny; Dawnstone ; Other Trickster Shard; Great Weapon
    Note: Ok, the carnosaur is just for fancy. But It can work with HM Slann. Hell ! i'll make it work.

    Heroes

    Skink priest
    - Lvl 2 Lore of Beast; Dispel Scroll

    Skink Priest
    - Lvl 1 Lore of Beast; Cube of Darkness.

    Note: You may think its overkill investment in magic, but this guy allow me to get the upper hand in both magic phases (mine and foe's) and always get a stored dispel dice. As I shine in low winds of magic rolls more than a high one.
    Why Lore of Beast? I wanted at least one Wyssans Wildform. Rolling 3 spells on beast gives a fair chance to get one of three uber spells (Transformation of Kadon is golden on skink priest). Also if Amber Spear is not picked, Slann can have a easy roll on 1 die to acquire it when you swap one HM spell.

    Core

    Saurus Warriors
    #24; Standard bearer; Musician; Champion

    Note: As I will face lot of tarpits Saurus Warriors are auto include. Also I love their performance under Wyssans Wildform. As I have Hand of Glory I feel more confident with them.

    Skink Cohort
    #30; Standard bearer; Musician; Champion.

    Note: My Steadfast block. But wait, Swift reform 15 wide 2 deep. 30 shots. I deploy here my Slann. If I had the feel of danger, I swap one spell for shadows and change position with a previously Skink priest positioned in temple guard next own magic phase. With this tactic I killed with one round of shooting a Hell Pit Abomination. Hope I can kill a chimera at same rate (for this I want early wyssans)

    Special

    Temple Guard

    Note: My combat block, Not the number I want, but the number I have. Also with HM Slann they improve a lot, I usually swap my second spell for Earthblood, so at least one to three spells will already casted: Hand of Glory, Wyssans Wildform, Earthblood.


    Rare

    Ancient Stegadon
    Sharpened Horns; Unstopable Stampide

    Note: Why Unstopable? Because I have some points to spare and with all that magic power, that attack can be worthy.


    Final thoughts: My worst match-up is WoC, but I have tools to deal with. Magic is the centerpiece of my army. Due to HM great antihorde spells and Frog not deploying in TG I can nuke without risking my own elite troops. And only a 16% of Dimensional Cascade. The army lacks warmachine hunters but with Walk Between Worlds you can sneak a unit behind the enemy lines. Also Spirit Leech should do the trick in second turn with Arcane Vassal. (this one will be the first on being swap against O&G)
    I think is pretty balanced.

    Edit to Skinquisitor: The list is already submitted and some games were played. I thought about Heaven, but Beast gave me things Heaven couldn't.

    Dont forget, Earthblood only affects the unit wich contains the slann:) Also, you might consider using heavens(iceshard blizzard) instead of beasts, for extra care for the monsters against warmachines, or some support for their terror, and also usable to aid tg/sauruses, also, way easier to cast then wyssains, even with the lvl1.
