SO I'm new to the forums, and have been trying new lists types and would love some feedback. Last weekend I tried out a list with no TG, who previously have been 1+ in my lists. However, even without them, I did quite well against hordes upon hordes of skaven. Would like to hear some opinions: Slann w/ Focus, Harmonic, Eldritch, Soul of Stone, and channeling staff Scar-Vet BSB w/ Ironcurse, Fencer's Blades, Dragonhelm, LA Skink Chief w/ Ripperdactyl, sword of striking, LA, enchanted shield, blowpipe Tetto'eko Skink Priest Lvl 1 w/ Scroll (Beasts) 33 Saurus Warriors w/ FC 3x !0 Skink Skirmishers w/ Javelins 10 Skink Cohorts Bastiladon w/ Engine 3 Ripperdactyls 3 Terradons, javelins 5 Chameleons Ancient Steg w/ horns Salamander w/ extra handler 2396 pts
I concur it's a magic heavy list, but so far it has worked well. I have two regular channels with a slann channeling three at 5+, and that has gotten me way above in power dice and equal in dispel dice. Sure it doesn't always work, but most of the time it does. The slann with that stuff is a must, with the toolbox high magic is, and tetto'eko's ability has saved me from broken concentration numerous times. The skink scroll caddie does take up 90 points and is a liability. Where do you think those points should go if not to the caddie?
Yes, or another unit of Chameleons. When you lay out the "why" I can see it makes sense. It's just not a style I'm familiar with or used to (coming from Wood Elves where we rarely take anything but 1 L4 wizard).
Actually, a second Salamander is definitely better, in the same pack, because you have Tetto'eko - vanguarding those Salamanders will be a fun surprise.
Those are very good points, and I do like the salamander combo. Question though, does a pack of two salamanders, taken as one unit, have to stay side by side, or can they branch away across the battlefield but still be a unit? I only ask cuz i run my salamanders solo from each other.
You can run them solo or take them as a unit of two, at which point they have to stay together. Taking them as a unit of two would allow you to guarantee they both get to Vanguard with Tetto'eko's special rule. Taking them as two separate units would give you more tactical flexibility.
Solo with the salamanders, got it. But other than that replacement, everything looks good for tournament setting?
Why the scarvet bsb? Why not just bsb the Slann and then you don't have to worry about tossing the vet into combat
A lot of people put the bsb on the slann but at that point with magic banners and all, he becomes too many points. If i were to lose a slann bsb to a miscast, that's game over right there. If I have a scarvet bsb with the fighting stuff he has I may be able to pull out a draw. For me, it's too many points on one model.
