Slann -cupped hands -focused rumination -becalming cogitation -BSB -Standard of discipline Scar vet -CO,Dawnstone,dragon helm,GW,LA,VotFF Skink Priest -Dispell Scroll 25 Warriors -fcmd 3 x 10 skink skirmishers 36 skinks -3 kroxigor 20 Temple Guard -fcmd 2 x 6 chameleon skinks 5 CoC 1 salamander hunting pack - 1 handler I have 125 left and im unsure where to put it, i have only 1 salamander at the moment but i guess that's where i should spend it. The slann will probably take life to try and help keep the krox skink unit survives enough as well as hopefully getting dwellers off. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Herrod
i really like your list. My advice is to drop the coc and take more salamanders. If you haven't the models, though, you should invest more points on your units. For example give a standard bearer to your saurus warriors, and maybe give them spears (expecially if you go with a life slann you won't need the parry save so much, and 5 more attacks are better)
If that is your first 2400 point list, that is a solid 2400 point list. I would agree with your plan for the extra points, take more salamanders, and maybe a handful more TG. Life with TG is always a great idea, I wouldnt focus on trying to keep the skrox alive with it though. They are going to be steadfast against most things so your slann can use flesh to stone on the saurus or TG while your skrox grind it out.
Thanks for the help guys, looking via this forum over the past month has helped me in writting this list, would you say then drop the CoC add a couple more sallies and was thinking of taking Focus of Mastery on the Slann plus then upgrade the saurus warriors to have spears and if any points left add a few more Temple Guard? Cheers
Heres the deal with CoC. They are not bad, they just cost a lot. There are a lot of benefits of having a mobile unit that can charge 17 inches regularly at S5 with a 2+ AS, and they give your scar vet a LOS save. I wouldnt optimize them out immediately, I would give them a try and if you are having trouble try to swap them out. If I play against friends, i will take CoC. If I am playing in a tournament I will not. Give Saurus spears or HW is a long standing debate. A lot of people including myself think saurus are better with hw/shield and dont take spears. It depends on how you use them and the size of the unit. In my case I like huge cheap blocks of saurus that are steadfast and get a ward save to keep them alive longer
here's my personal advice: If your taking a life slann, you don't NEED cupped hands, as throne of vines ignores miscasts on a 2+ (it still buggers an enemy wizard though) I would invest the points in 4 more saurus for your unit and put the scar vet in it (without the CO) Drop the CoC for a steggie Use the spare points to get that sallie but at the end of the day its your list, so choose what you have and feel comfortable with
Thanks for all the tips, I ran something slightly different, I dropped the CoC for a Steg and dropped the Skrox unit to 2 Krox and 22 skinks and added another Scar Vet in the TG unit. I didnt add anymore Sallies as I prefer to play with only the models I have at the time. I took a life Slann with cupped hands which was a waste because during the game my oppenant didnt have a good magic phase all game so he couldnt dispel throne at all, I miscast once but we played it you roll for the ignore before cupped hands and of course I passed the 2+ I did like life due to being able to add +4 T and using regrowth with regen on 1 unit is awesome, dwellers was a no show but with focused Rumination I can see how it is awesome, I think I'll run life once more with cupped hands as I can see if my oppenant does get a good magic phase and dispels throne I'll need to keep casting it so no real miscast protection.
