I haven't taken my LM out since, I think 4th ed (when were they first released?) and been thinking about getting some dinosaurs. Before starting I imagined a bunch of bastilidons and stegadons supported by a slann (debuffing toughness and death-sniping mages) but I ran out of points Slann BSB, harmonic convergence, focus of mystery, channeling staff, standard of discipline Skink Priest Lvl 2, Dispel scroll Saurus x 30 Spears, full command 2x 10 skink cohort Musician, banner 2x 10 just musician (total 4) 3x bastiladon w/ ark of sotek 10 chameleons 2x jungle swarm 2x Ancient steg w/ sharpened horns, one w/ engine of gods other blowpipes The standards on the cohorts is for blood and glory but is probably not necessary (if dropped = min core). I orginally had 2 skink priest cos i was hoping for comet but now there is just one I should prob just take a lvl 1 for wyssans. Anyway, let me know if you think this is a good idea and how it could work better, thanks
The biggest risk I can see is there is really no place to safely park the slaan. In the saurus, he must go in the front rank and even with ld 10, cold-blooded, spear saurus can lose big time and need insane courage to hold. This could easily happen against any elite infantry that starts with 3 ranks. The steadfast will be gone once the saurus lose 10 models, which is a single round against WoC, white lions, etc. if the unit isn't buffed. The simplest solution is crown of command. A secondary concern is the absence of magic CC attacks. Against any vamp ethereals, there will be big trouble if they are not destroyed before combat. To this end, I think changing out a beastieboy for a scarvet cowboy would be worth it. You are really only giving up a single bound spell, which will leave the list with 3 bound + slaan casting.
