Hey all, was hoping for a bit of feedback regarding an up and coming match. My list is as follows Slann Focus Mystery (Light), Rumination, Becalming, BSB (Standard of Discipline), Cupped hands and Bane Head Skink priest - lvl 2 EoTG, extra spell Scar Vet (Goes in Temple Guard) L.Armour Shield Helm of Discord 30 Saurus w/ Spears and Standard 28 Skinks w/ 3 Krox, Standard, Musician. 26 Temple Guard, Full command, Plaque of Dominion 6 Chamo Skinks 6 Chamo Skinks Salamander w/ extra Handler Salamander w/ extra Handler Comes out to 2499. Now I'm sure this list isn't exactly ideal for this but... I am sorta working with limited models. My thoughts were that I can tie units up with my Saurus and Temple Guard while my EoTG and Skrox units smash their way around the flanks. Salamanders help with cavalry and hordes of infantry, whilst the chamo skinks hunt lone wizards and war machine crews. I have a little bit of room for movement, so please FIRE AWAY with comments/concerns! Just a heads up, my match is on Friday -Bauhus
I would find a way to slap an iron curse icon onto somebody as empire artillery is the scary business. Also, I might avoid EoTG completely unless you can find some buildings to hide it behind while you move up. Standard empire list is going to have 1-2 cannons that will tear it apart otherwise.
The EoTG would be my biggest concern as well (you can get a lot of stuff for the points these things eat up). Just make sure you have Pha's Protection or Iceshard Blizzard on it at all times to make them roll a 4+ to see if it can even fire. If you think there's a good chance you opponent will have holes in his line where your Chameleons can fit, these units will be your MVPs. Anyway, good luck and let us know how it goes.
After a bit of consideration I have opted to take out my EoTG Skink priest and instead invest those points into 10 CoR. Which have a Champ and a Banner of Swiftness. I know some people will argue that they're just not worth the points, but I am playing with relatively limited models. oh, and I WILL let ya know how it goes. Apparently after I"m done with the Empire, I have to take on Vampire Counts so... Yeah. -Bauhus
Cor can work as great flankers and warmachine killers if you position yourself properly as you can outmaneuver most empire forces. Use a screen for them the first round so they don't get shot up and then do your business. I recommend a banner of eternal flame on your tg or CoR against Vamps.
Hey, Just a quick update about my game. I lost... and... lost badly. I had been tabled by the end of turn 6, while I had only managed to kill 1 Hellblaster Gun, 2 Cannons and a Level 2 Light Wizard, while I lost everything on the table. I ended up giving up 2799 VPs with losing all of my banners, my general and BSB all in combats. My opponent and I talked afterwords and both thought my list was solid, but unfortunately my dice decided to do their own thing. And just to give you an idea of how bad the dice were... I miss cast every round my slann was alive ( 5 turns), my block of 10 CoR couldn't kill 1 arch lector on a war chariot over 4 turns, dying in the end to Soulfire, and my Skrox unit died pitifully to 6 knights, even though I got the charge. oh well, can't win em all -Bauhus
First off your list looked solid. You should have taken life over light with the empire. The reasoning behind that is that they put out a lot of deaths with their coward shooters. With life you can get some of it back. Also CoR are not the answer in this edition. If I were you I would have got a common stegadon and put a skink chief on it with a war spear. He gets 2d6+1 Impact and then gets the stomp afterwards. Anyways I am suprised your skink/ krox unit didn't do any good. I have had a lot odf succes with that unit.
