Skink Priest, level 2, heavens Skink Chief, BSB Skink Chief, Steg ancient Core: 25% 32 skink cohorts, full command, 4 krox 2x10 skink skirmishers 15 skink cohorts (standard and musician) 1 Steggadon (bow) 3 Ripperdactyles 3 Terradons 5 Chameleon skinks 1 Bastiladon Solar engine 1 Bastiladon Ark of Sotek Rare: 25% 1 Engine of the Gods 1 Troglodon 1 Salamander 1 Razordon I noticed that you can just barely squeeze in 1 of every skink unit, and have ~170 points for spare characters (in addition to the chief on ancient), and you can spend the 625 on whatever core you want. With SIX monsters in the list, it isn't as pushover as I thought it was going to be. Really wanted to squeeze in Tetto, but just couldn't get the points (10 points over, with nothing to cut). Most likely it will play better with the BSB anyway... -Matt
Wow, ok that's a pretty ballsy list right there. I have to say I'm impressed. Just two comments - The Ark of Sotek isn't going to work properly. The rules allow it to add a free swarm to an existing unit of Jungle Swarms, not create a new one. If you want this to work, you need to have some Jungle Swarms already in the list. - It's an obvious one, but you could use a dispel scroll. Well cheers.
Ark of Sotek works just fine. You take it for the 2D6 S2 hits, not the sucker bet of making an extra model on a 4+, with very short range. -Matt
I personally love all skink lists and have been toying with one myself. One thing though that I just couldn't get myself to use points on is the Troglodon. There are few units in a skink list with Predatory Fighter to make use of the Primeval Roar and there is no Slann to use the Oracle as an Arcane Vassal. I love the model though and I'd like to use it if it proves useful in some situations. So how do you plan to use the Troglodon and what role would he/she/it/they fulfill?
Even with 2x2 swarm bases and spawning about one base in each turn it would be nice to take some! You create a block of 2 swarm units and a bastiladon with 2D6 attacks! With this tactic you would be able to create an awesome tough lowstrength, many attacks block! If you don't take swarms a solar engine would be more usefull! Agree with Hojdar.. troglodon would be a waste in this list! You'd better take about 2 extra salamanders and a extra razordon! Make a much bigger unit of skinks! 53 skinks (10 wide, 4 kroxigors in your second row!) and with a chief in it S-S-S-S-C-S-S-S-S-S S-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-S S-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-S S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S S=Skink C=Chief BSB K=Kroxigor It would be a scary huge block which you need because skinks are squishy! Give your bsb a standard of discipline, you are going to need it!
Fills the requirement of taking every single unit that has a skink in it. Yeah, it's pissing away 200 point for theme. -Matt
3 Swarms crumble and die nearly as fast as 2. 4 swarms might last a turn longer. "Squish" just tends to void any advantage for having more swarms. If you're lucky, you'll get 1 more round of poison attacks out of having the extra swarm. The problem has been in practice, that the swarms give up more combat res then the poison hits generate. Trying to keep the bastiladon in near the swarm, that wants to be lining up a flank charge, isn't nearly as useful as keeping a bastiladon near the general, and marching/charging into the enemies center mass to maximize the area of effect hits. -Matt
