This list worked amayzingly well for me, however I recognize that lore of metal and doomdivers for example ( anithing that doesnt alow armour saves) would be a problem any suggestions to protect yourself against this? Also I would like to hear your experiences with this kin of dethstar! Sidenote: tehenewin its better than it looks on paper!
Armor of Destiny on an Old Blood doesn't really make sense. With Scaly Skin and a Cold One he only needs light armor (or anything that gives +1, like the Stegadon helm, a dragon helm, etc) to get a 1+. Swap for the T. of Preservation on the Scar Vet. Running that many heroes in a five-model unit seems really dangerous, since it will only take one kill before you lose LOS. Not sure what the Temple Guard are for.
If you take the Talisman then you can't take the Dawnstone. It's unfortunate that you waste a pip of armor save, but 1+, 1+, 4++ is worth it!
Exactly. I have 3 concerns with this list. 1) Cold One unit is too small -- as soon as 1 dies, no more Look Out Sir! 2) I would want at least 1 Skink Priest with a Scroll for magic defense. 3) Move the BSB to the Scar Vet with Stegadon Helm and Luckstone -- He's harder to kill than the one with Armor of Fortune.
Completely agree with your reasonings specially the one about the cold one unit being too small. To fix this I was thinking modyfying the list to include less saurus and TG and maybe removing the salamander and change it by chamelions and skinks to deal with shooting. Because a 3 rank unit of cold ones doesn't make sense tu me. The skink with the dispell scroll. I also thought about it, unfortunately I have allready used my hero points so I would have to take a scarveteran out. I agree with moving the BSB Still wondering about how to protect the unit against lore of metal.
That's why you need a scroll The other way to look at it is that Lore of Metal is just something you have to hope you don't encounter. When you have this many eggs in one basket, you are creating a vulnerability that's hard to mitigate.
Also MR(3). The scroll will save you from one spell. MR(3) will save half your troops from all the spells. (Scroll + MR(3) is the best of both worlds if you can afford it!)
True. In this army, a Scar Vet with Obsidian Amulet, spear, light armor & shield may be a better load out than some of those others.
If you want to go the Cold One deathstar route there is one item you should consider: the Skavenbelt Banner. Getting Frenzy on an expensive unit has it's drawbacks, but the sheer amount of power such a unit produces is just crazy. The banner does not only give every character in the unit an extra attack (or Rider for that matter), but also the Cold Ones get a bonus attack. That gives you 5 extra S4 attacks, and more importantly, 5 extra attacks of S5-7 (with predatory fighter + other bonuses of your characters).
Excuse me this, but How the skaven banner (Frenzy) works with Predatory figther rule? When you pursue a enemy unit? It´s the same thing?
Its pretty obvious isn't it? Predatory Fighter says: you must always pursuit unless there is a skink character nearby. Frenzy says: you must always pursuit. so if there is a skink character, you are clear of predatory fighter, but would still have to pursue due to frenzy (the skink doesnt prevent that rule.)
