Hello Lustrians, So I've been playing Warhammer for about 18 months, and I'm finally getting interested in playing more 2500 point range games. That said, I don't have a lot of experience playing at this level, so while I can list-build all day, I'm never sure how the list looks. I mean, of course I think it looks good, but that's because I just made it. I know I should just go out and play to find out, but there's lots of smart people here who can help as well. This list is way more character heavy than my normal lists, which is why I don't know how well it will work. Any thoughts are welcome. Oldblood w/ Cold One, Halberd, Armor of Destiny, Ironcurse Icon Oldblood w/ Cold One, Sword of Strife, Armor of Fortune, Potion of Strength Scar Vet e/ Cold One, Halberd, LA, Sh, Egg of Quango Scar Vet w/ Cold One, Halberd, LA, Sh Tetto'eko Gor-rok 31 Warriors FC, HW 11 Skink Cohort 10 Skirmishers x3 8 Cold One Riders FC Spears 8 Cold One Riders FC Spears 6 Camo skinks 6 Camo skinks My current theory: Bunker an oldblood and scar vet in each block of COR, use scouts to deny vanguards and use Tetto to vanguard Saurus Warriors w/ Gor-rok and maybe COR. Skinks can hunt war machines, clear chaff, redirect charges. Now with my current build, which is 2500 points exactly, I'm super vulnerable to magic, but have 2 decent hammers and a stubborn anvil. Thoughts?
I'm a fairly new LM player myself but i hope my comment will be relevant (and at least sound knowledgeable). Although i personally prefer to have a slann and nuke the enemy with spells, ive always wanted to squeeze in an oldblood (perhap even on a carnosaur) and i like your list a lot. Whilst i think the COR are overpriced and suck on their own, they can serve as excellent delivery service for your mounted lords and heroes. I dont quite get the purpose of tetto, except for the vanguard perhaps? i know people love him, but im not too fond of heavens, and he would be easy prey for archers and war machines unless hes in the skink cohort (and even then, that unit is a very vulnerable target). Maybe you could replace him with 1 or 2 lvl 2 skink priests with lore of beasts, who also carry the dispel scroll and / or cube. I personally am a great fan of beasts (wyssan's is amazing, especially times 2, and the prospect of getting Transformation of Kadon is a tempting one) Perhaps you could ditch one oldblood, put the other one on a carnosaur, give all the upgrades to the carnosaur and give the oldblood ancient steg helm + piranha blade? that way he'd have d3 impact hits with d3 wounds and a very fallible terror check. In that case, you could fuse the two COR units with two scarvets into a single giant hammer, and your opponent wouldn't know who to prioritize with his shooting. I do like gor'rok though, i think he has some sweet special rules and items, and if you still have the points i'd recommend keeping him around to lead the saurus. Finally, if the camo skinks dont work out the way you had intended (they constantly suffer fireballs and other disgraceful manners of death) you might want to try out a skink chief on a ripper as your new war machine hunter (i use him, but i also give him the piranha blade for greater likelihood of wiping out a WM's crew in a single turn). Hope this was helpful
I actually really like it, especially Gor-rok. My only thoughts are: You might have problems with getting the right match ups with your buses, although this is less of a problem than if you had only one. Still, some Terradons might be useful. The Strength Oldblood should have the Piranha Blade to really crack armour/monsters/monstrous stuff. Can you fit another Skink Priest in with a Dispel Scroll? Purple Sun is going to hurt, as well as things like Searing Doom.
I like your list as well. But, I also think that making two buses will just make two not very scary units. If you put them all in one unit and lower the number to eleven riders + characters you will get a unit that most people are afraid for. One that punches very hard. With the saved points you should try to get in a wyssans priest to buff them. Good luck with whatever choice you make. And you can just try your list and see if you like it. If not do some changes. /Crillaz
interesting! You might be spreading the butter thin as your boys arent fully equipped to be the beasts they can be, but perhaps it works? one thing though: BSB! That one time where you lose by 1 or 2 due to static combat res against a many ranked core choice That one time where you roll bad even with cold blood That one time you roll bad even with swiftstride That one time your opponent rolls enough to run down your boys with his core choice A bsb makes that tragedy less likely, and it is quite necessary when running CO buses! let alone TWO of them Core looks awesome Camo skinks seems well invested too I'd like to see how it goes!
As someone who have been quite successful with the double bus I can give some advice: *Scroll caddy is really needed! *Don't be afraid to split your characters or piling them all in one basket depending on your opponent. One tooled up Olblood can bring lot's of pain while being very resilient. *Having 2 CoC units grants you a lot of flexibility in terms of where you want to hit and avoid. *Even with cold-blooded LD8 I would recommend a BSB on a cold one. *Maybe read some of the tactics on kitting your characters. Your Oldbloods can have better load-outs. Other than that it all looks good
Thanks for the advice, all. I dropped a scar-vet to include a lvl-1 priest with a scroll and optimized my old one kits. I'm pretty happy with it, so I'll be sure to let y'all know how it performs.
