personally i'd drop one of the stegs and increase the salamanders. potentially upgrade the other to ancient, imo blowpipes are better than bolt thrower. feedback scroll is nott the best either take dispell or upgrade to another discipline. sword of might is not giving you anything on the temple guard as already come with halbards all your gaining is a +1 to your armour in combat on the champ. banner of eternal flame might be a better choice.
The reason for the Sword of Might is I have a severe lack of magic weapons and when I play against my VC friend, whom I play alot, his Ethereal units eat me up. I haven't ran a Stegadon yet so I was worried about the range of the blow pipes since they are only 12" and you can't march and shoot. It seems like they wouldn't see any action until the 3rd turn while the bow would see action in turn 2.
2 Salamanders aren't enough if you wan't them to do any real damage, that's what I find at least. Ancients are definitely better either way, I see your point against the Vamps, but when he starts bringing out a BSB with Re-gen banner you'll be screwed anyway, banner of eternal flame is awesome for 10pts, and a champ isn't really going to do much against ethereal units overall, your best bet against them is if you can co-engage and let them drop from combat res, if not magic them. Which Magic lore do you use?
I've been using Life at 1500 points but I'd like to use Light at 2500. I tried Life once at 1500 and I didn't get Speed of Light or Timewarp so it felt like a weak lore. I run Rumination at 1500. I had considered giving Light another go at 1500 and taking Mystery in order to get the entire lore though, any tips?
Consensus is in temple guard take life. On own light, or daring shadow. Loremaster is a given. If your always playing VC then the 6's not counting is a good discipline
